Non Scale Victories This Week

During last night's LIIFT 4 Shoulders workout, I saw an improvement over last weeks shoulder presses.  I was unable to do the 2nd and 3rd sets last week overhead after about 3-4 presses.  My left shoulder would literally fall like I'd lost all muscle control with 10 lb weights.  Yesterday I used the same 10 lbs and it wasn't until the 7th rep on the second set that I started to feel bad fatigue but pushed through.  On the third set my shoulders were shot but I was still able to push overhead even if slower.  I pushed to fatigue but didn't have that dangerous muscle drop I had before. The zinnias I grew from seed are mostly in full bloom and I took some pics before cutting some to put in a little vase. Post trip weekend recap

Happy Monday guys!

We took a nice little trip Wednesday night...

We were there to see this amazing show...

I will review the show eventually but let me say if Patricia Ward Kelly comes anywhere near your city or close enough for a weekend trip, GO!  I have recently fallen totally in love with Gene Kelly and this was just completely amazing.  Even the Mr who really knew nothing about him came out a fan.  As I said, I'll cover more in another post but wow.  So glad to have seen this show and so much for your money as well.

We made a pit stop in Niagara on the Lake and here's a gift from Vader for you.

I hope you didn't already have one.  ;-)

It was grocery restock weekend so there went 2 1/2 hours of our evening yesterday.  We got started with our workouts when we typically finish them and the Mr came up a few minutes early to start cutting my veggies.  Then I came up and he's like "what is that noise?"  Tornado warning on the weather radio.  Of course we immediately said "it looks to hit Wakita head on."   (affiliate link) *blows kiss to heaven*

So I heated up dinner and 3 minutes later we were eating it on our laps on folding chairs.

Does anyone else with a basement home gym think that they would likely die down there from their free weights being projectiles in a tornado/hurricane?

I will recap the Toronto trip a little more but I'm a pooped pup so I'll sign off for right now.  I must say though, we're very happy with the results on the food/weight front.

What did you guys do this weekend?

  1. Not too bad of a drive and to be able to leave the country and all that is pretty cool. Now my car is international! I did have a good time and people who are even semi-aware of who Gene Kelly is should definitely check out the show!

  2. It sounds like you had a fun trip. I wonder about my basement as a tornado shelter too so you're not alone.

Last week was spring break. My folks and I took my son to Mesa Verde. We had a good time, saw a lot, learned a lot, and had one really great hike. Unfortunately the ruins themselves are only open for ranger guided tours, and they don't do those year 'round, so we had to look from a distance.

Spring Break was not long enough. Have a good week.

  3. We don't have a basement - my plan is getting into the bathtub in our main bathroom (no windows, middle of the house) and put a mattress over us. That way when the tornado sucks us up, at least we'll have a soft landing??? I love Gene Kelly too! Sounds like you guys had a great weekend. We spent the weekend at the AT&T store with cell phone issues...I hate that you are basically forced to upgrade!
