What I'm Reading This Week #20

Howdy do punkin' poos?  I hope you had a delightful week of blissful productivity at work (aka hanging on by the frays of your well bitten fingernails whilst saying you need to win the lottery but never actually playing.)   A birthday shout out to my grandma.  You know, even though she would've been 86, and I know the probability is she would be gone now, it still doesn't stop me wondering how long she would've made it if dementia hadn't reared up.  I could really use one of her hugs or her hands cupping my face with that ornery little grin saying I was her first grandbaby.  Happy birthday grandma.  I hope you and mom have a big euchre game going on tonight. We've been slowly integrating back into walking this week as the Mr could handle.  Last night he was able to do two laps without having to stop to stretch so that is good news.  For more news, let's check out: Grip Strength Is A Sneaky Predictor Of Longevity—Here’s How To Improve Yours ...

Strollin' and rollin'

Yesterday we had some storms roll in that were pretty bad and it looks to be the trend for the next few weeks.  Luckily by the time the Mr got home (late) there was some sunshine and it was perfect weather for walking.  I needed to get out of the house so off to the park.

We were greeted by the turkeys.

The trails were flooded so we just walked the asphalt and gabbed the whole way.  We did a bit of a longer route and by the time we were nearing the end, I was feeling it in the hips and my sunscreen was sweating off in record time.

When will they make truly sweatproof sunscreen?  I hate putting it on and then going out in public and it looks like I'm pouring sweat.  Yeah, that doesn't look fat at all to be glistening in 60 degree weather.

When we got home, it was time for dinner.  Mahi mahi over spinach and carrot polenta.

We caught up on the DVR a bit, streamed some jazz from San Francisco, raging thunderstorms rolled in and then just had a lazy evening.

What did you do last night?  Do you know of any good, REAL sweatproof sunscreen?

  1. It was nice to get out and walk and it was a good bit of exercise too. I was just plain sluggish after it though. Feel like I still need sleep.

    1. It was nice, too bad my legs just can't seem to handle any exercise these days no matter how low impact. I'm going to have to go back to rolling and arch massages 3x day. I need sleep too.

  2. I graded some papers and watched a little Netflix. I have the same trouble with sunscreen. I have one that's better than others I've tried, Neutrogena clear face, but it's still not truly sweat proof. I'll be interested to see suggestions from your other readers.

    1. Yeah me too. I would love something that would stay put and not sweat my makeup off but not have so many chemicals that make it stay in place that I'm afraid to actually use it.

  3. I do not know of any good sweat-proof sunscreen, and boy do I sure need it. I sweat all the time and I have since I was a kid, no matter what my weight was. I'm just naturally warmer than most females and I'm almost never cold when others are shivering. My head is drenched more times than not. Going through peri-menopause isn't helping either I'm sure. Last night it was my ABC shows after an 11 hour day at work. I was just toast mentally, so it was nice to just veg out for 2 hours before heading off to bed. Tonight I'm making breakfast for dinner and will be trying to keep one of my dogs from shaking out of his fur from fear of the lightning and thunder. He's just a wreck and has been wide awake since last night!

    1. My research has shown many say Blue Lizard is a good sunscreen that supposedly doesn't sweat off. I may have to try it because this Kiss My Face crap is, well, not good. I'm itching everywhere it was yesterday so that's a thumbs down for me.

  4. I had mahimahi yesterday, too!

And oh, the sunscreen. It either drips into my eyes and burns the hell out of them, or it makes me look really greasy like I have oily skin and haven't showered for days, or it just doesn't work, and I still burn. I've yet to find a good sunscreen! ;)

    1. I love mahi! It's how I got the Mr to eat fish. It's so meaty, he mistook it for chicken! HA!

Yep, it does the same to me too. It's ridiculous and when on vacation we're always in warm climates so I have to wear it but then look like I just ran a marathon walking store to store. ERG!!
