Boring Weekend Recap

source Monday, we meet again.  You come on like lightning you saucy wench.  I hope you all had a great weekend and managed to keep cool.  We got up to 96 at different times so that's...fun.     I have to start with these two cards I got in the mail Thursday night. The big paper one is from the friends we gifted our old grill to.  The Mr and I cracked up at the hot dog 'thanks' on what is an exact image of the grill along with a lovely note from the Mrs of the couple thanking us profusely as they didn't have money to replace their grill that was falling apart.  The other is from my friend I've known since 1988 and he doesn't send out cards much so this was a surprise.  It was him telling us how lucky he is to have us a friends and how much we mean to him and he thought we should know.  It made me cry for sure (and then of course check in to make sure he was okay.  He is.)  Obviously any kind of communication is appreciated but t...

Thumpin' melon

It was a pretty long day yesterday.  It's usually the Mr's telework day and I must be used to it because the day dragged on forever with him at work.  I got some scheduling done I've been putting off, following up with people dragging their feet on some things, spent the day obsessing with stats for the latest video and trying to stop my nails from throbbing after biting them all off from nerves.  Yeesh.

The Mr was kind enough to stop by the grocery on the way home and ran into several stupid people that caused him to get a flaming headache.  I was so sore from the Total Trainer session the night before I knew nothing strenuous was in the cards for me so I thought I'd see if he wanted to walk at the park.  He looked pretty beat and in pain but said he wanted to in lieu of going into the basement to workout.  It was pretty windy but I knew that would mean no sweat and I'm down with that.  We gabbed and enjoyed the sunshine.

I wish I could say that made him better but he seemed to get worse even after a neck massage from me, Excedrin migraine (his usual last resort) and dinner of chicken, sweet potato and green beans.  I felt so bad for him.  I know those days when you just have the worst headache that wants to hang on and nothing seems to help.  The only thing that seemed to slightly improve things for him was the all natural method of peppermint and olive oil rubbed on the temples.  Hopefully today will be better.

But it was good to stumble across Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back (affiliate link)  so we could hear the line "fire a warning shot into his bulbous ass."  That one got a pretty hearty chuckle from the Mr.

How do you soothe headaches that hang on?

  2. When I get bad headaches the only thing that helps is sleep, which isn't great when it hurts too bad to sleep. I just lay perfectly still in a dark room and hope for the best. I used to get migraines that would have me sick to my stomach, but luckily I haven't had a full blown migraine for years.

    1. Those are the worst, especially when you're in the dark and quiet and it's STILL too loud. Ugh.

    1. I'm encouraging him to take a half day but I'm a bad influence.

Makes me laugh too. So raunchy and stupid but perfect when you need something mindless to make you laugh.

  4. Oy, do I know headaches. When it gets to that bad of a stage, nothing helps but riding it out. If I am able to catch it in time, what seems to help is an ice-cold rag on the top of my head, but a heating pad around my neck to keep me from tensing too much. Crazy, I know, but it has occasionally helped. I'm to the point now that if I'm dehydrated and the head is just pounding, it'll cause me to vomit. And that is so much worse because then it's all the pressure from that on top of the migraine! My sympathies go out to him because it's an awful feeling to have a sledgehammer throbbing throughout your head. Hope he's feeling much better today.
