What I'm Reading This Week #18

Happy Friday everyone and welcome to May.  We had a long week of getting the garage together so the Mr could finally park in it six weeks later.  We still have some work to do in there as far as purging and such but we needed to get the space useable again since it's been a holding tank for our old countertop/sink, old grill waiting to be picked up by a friend, insulation, built planters and patio table and extra fencing from critter cages.  We haven't had the mental drive to figure out how we get the shelves in order.  I think I'm going to have to look up some garage organizing articles or something because it's really overwhelming to look at it all.  If we can get a plan together to tackle it then maybe we'll have our weekend plans for next weekend as long as it's not hot yet because we don't want to be in a sweatbox. Now let's peek into: Dietitians Agree, Eating More Might Be the Secret to Your Strongest Year Ever   (Volume eating FTW.  It's been ...

Dinner and saucy talk with mama

Happy Hump Day all!

The Mr was teleworking yesterday so we got in the opportunity to get in an early workout.  We were meeting my mom for dinner and froyo and if we were going to get a workout in, it had to be before we left and not after since my mama and I can yakity yak.  I was good and got a grilled chicken breast, slice of sharp cheddar, a strip of bacon on a lettuce "bun" and a side salad.  Holy crap was that chicken salty.  At least to us.  I don't use salt at all...ever.  I have a whole cupboard full of spices and I might have a tablespoon of salt in the salt shaker for company that never comes.  But it was good we got the workout in early because mom and I were on a roll.  If there's one thing the Mr can say, it's that when I have conversations with my family, not much is off limits including saggy fun bags and poop sweats.  Prim and proper we are not.  So between the two places (in the same strip mall), we were out for three hours before parting company as the sun set.

I came home and promptly washed off all of my make up since the rare times I get to wear it these days with the eye crap going on is few and far between.  I bought this all natural skin care stuff called Andalou Naturals.  It smells so good and its reasonably priced but I didn't dive in full tilt in case my skin went nuts with it.  I've been breaking out since I used the daily defense SPF 18 but the Andalou Naturals Blemish Vanishing Gel (affiliate link)  works well.  It's also the week before Aunt Flo so that is usually the week my face starts looking like puberty so I guess I'll have to use a different week to assess whether the breakouts are hormonal or the change in skin care.  I really want to go with all natural stuff if I can because I just can't handle all of the chemicals in everything these days.  I don't want that crap leeching into me anymore.

We seriously have so much to do today, its crazy.  Captain and First Mate Procrastinator ride again.

Are you proper with your parents or let it all hang out?

  1. Had a good time and good food last night but we also did pretty good in keeping with the meal plans without going too far overboard. Time to get some stuff done now!

    1. Yes we did. I think I was around 1650 for the day so that's not bad given dessert was involved.

  2. My parents are pretty proper people, so I'm proper with them. My late MIL was more of a let it all hang out person. One of many things I miss about her.

    1. My MIL is proper and we laugh at the things we can say to my mom that his mom would have a cow over.

  3. Am I the only one who's brain breaks out into the chorus of "Humpty Dance" whenever someone says hump day? Yes? Ok. I'm used to that.

I'm impressed to see you keep plugging in the face of aggravating obstacles. I hate when I get into those cycles of allergy or cold and one bad day just throws me back weeks. I wish you much luck.

    1. I didn't before but I will now.

Thanks. I planned for that big time and I honestly expected to get a little lip for choosing obviously healthy choices at a burger establishment but didn't get any push back this time. I left room for about 200 cals worth of toppings on the froyo and came out pretty much on point. I desperately wanted her onion strings but I had one tiny one and kept it at that.

  4. Oh, there is nothing proper about the things my mom and I talk about. She'll crack me up when she drops an f-bomb here or there because her Chicago accent really comes out then! LOL! The hubs often leaves the room because he thinks we're weirdos with all we talk about....anything bodily and he's outta there! LOL

    1. I can only imagine that Chicago accent. Love it! Unfortunately the Mr had nowhere to run for our conversation.
