Springing Back to Life

Our patio has gone through many iterations over the past 29 years.  When we first moved in, we were poor.  Our budget was tight so we had to be content with the grass and shadowbox fences with the neighbors.  We knew we always wanted a patio and saved up for it.  I want to say we paid $1200 for a paver patio.  We picked out the huge 18"x18" slate look pavers from Lowe's and got a patio set that was an ambitious size.  It was nice to have a space to relax outside and have a little flower bed where our pooch would happily walk up to smell the flowers.  After a year or two of constantly having people catch our eye as they walked their dogs or themselves, we said it was time for a fence with a gate.  I think it was around $700 back then.  Damn those prices make me nostalgic! Over the years, we had various outdoor area rugs, curtains on the fences to cover gaps, tropical hibiscus trees during our Hawaii years to remind us of our second home. ...

Push It Real Good

While this may conjure up images of Salt n' Pepa back in the day jammin' out showing us that ladies can rap too (or a Turbo Fire session for the rest of you Turbo peeps), it reminds me of a good workout that leaves me a quiverin' heap.  Last night we did the Lower Body Total Trainer/Free Weight Hybrid workout.  For those that need a refresher...

It's been a few weeks since we've done it and I thought I missed it.  Maybe not.  Well no, that's not true, I did miss that feeling of having pushed myself to the limits when I'm done.  I think by the time we get to the lateral lunges, we're both shaking and feeling like anything else we complete is done so out of pushing through that and digging deep.  That's a great feeling!  There is nothing like knowing you did above and beyond and really, in this weight loss game, you can't get mo' bettah than that!

What workout makes you push beyond your usual exertion?

  1. That is a tough workout but I definitely felt good after doing it. Especially since I have to admit that before hand, I was really not feeling like working out. Glad I just pushed through it.

  4. Any workout can if I put it all into it, but most of the time I choose a walk.

I did go to a Zumba class last night and I feel a little like I got hit by a truck this morning. When I'm able to get to the pool for laps I usually end up pretty whupped and noodle armed. Those are probably my two favorites that leave me knowing I've worked, but unfortunately due to scheduling neither is generally an option for me.
