What I'm Reading This Week #22
Howdy do and welcome to the last Friday of May. 😑 Even though it was a short week, it always seems just a tinge longer than the previous week. I'm getting antsy because I want to see blooms. When you're growing from seed, it requires a patience I don't naturally have and trying to keep things from getting to everything before it has a chance to. Then reading about some God awful hornworm that can just come in and decimate your tomato plants overnight. It makes me wonder at what point do I put up the insect netting over the bucket veggies. Other than that, not much else going on this week. Let's hop straight into: Does Walking Build Muscle, Burn Fat, or Both ? (The part about e-scooters is often a discussion as kids on them and e bikes rocket past us in the park or on a sidewalk going 20 mph. These kids are going to have ZERO muscle.) Eat This, Not That: 12 Powerful Foods That May Help Lower High Cholesterol After 50 (I need...
I'm just glad that, despite the rain, we got to do everything I planned and the happy shriek you let out when you saw the Christmas shop made my day! Glad you enjoyed it. I sure did!
ReplyDeleteMe too! You know I love Christmas at all times of the year so yeah, down with that ANYTIME you want to do that! :) Can't wait to go back. Definite high cal day material too! HA!
Deletesounds like a fun date , I would have enjoyed it too!
ReplyDeleteDrop some hints to your sweetie! ;)
Deleteawww Mr is really sweet...such a sweet gesture!!! Thats really awesome...now share that piece of chocolate woman:P
ReplyDeleteYes he is! We split sea salt english toffee and caramel. SOOO good!
DeleteOh my gosh - I almost thought I imagined my Odyssey from when I was a kid. No-one else has even heard of them, but there's the proof right there in pictures.
ReplyDeleteMy hubby's not much with the planning, but he has other qualities that make up for it. To be fair, it's tough for him to make plans without me since I'm the "keeper of the calendar" so he has to ask if we have plans on any given day.
Well there ya go...proof in pics! :)
DeleteTell him to check the calendar keeper then let him plan away!
What a nice surprise for you, that was so sweet!
ReplyDeleteYes it was, he's a keeper!
DeleteThat is so sweet. You two are an inspiration.
ReplyDeleteAww, thanks!
DeleteLooks like wonderful fun and all the more special since the Mr. planned it all for you. I have often fantasized about owning a Christmas store. Wouldn't that be FUN???
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! Owning a Christmas store would be DREAM for me! There were lots of people there too so I know that there are other people who would love to shop year round.
DeleteThat looks like a great day! How sweet of him. My husband isn't very good at surprises because he also says he isn't sure how to. He's so silly. I just like spending time with him. It wasn't a surprise, but he did get his parents to take our kids so we could have some time alone this weekend, and it was just what I needed to re-charge my batteries. He asked me to a restaurant I've been wanting to go to, so I was happy about that. Love the nutcrackers! I am kind of obsessed with them. We went to see The Nutcracker a couple years ago and I loved it. I'd love to take my daughter now that she's getting bigger.
ReplyDeleteI think planning something and getting appreciation might reinforce...planning surprise = good! :) Sounds like you had a great weekend too! I love Nutcrackers and we always went to see it every year on our dating anniversary for a long time since it's close to Christmas.
DeleteToo much cute! That is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteIt is kinda cute overload! :)
DeleteAw, that is so sweet! I'm glad you had a fun day out, even if the weather didn't exactly cooperate.
ReplyDeleteIt was pretty rainy most of the day but it rained on our wedding day and that turned out pretty awesome so I don't bat an eye at the weather unless there's a tornado looming. :)
DeleteSuch a sweet thing to do! I have often said that my husband will NEVER throw me a surprise party, because he is pretty much incapable of keeping a secret. He has ratted on himself so many times, it's not even funny. I deliberately do my best to not guess what he's getting me for gifts, otherwise it spoils his attempt at surprising me. Love that kind of a day--petting critters, Christmas shop, antiques, chocolate, and him surprising you; does it get any better?!
ReplyDeleteIsn't that funny how guys do that. They always accuse women of not being able to keep secrets but they're just as bad if not worse! ;) And nope, it doesn't get much better than that!
DeleteLooks like a lovely, lovely day!!! Since you love Christmas so much, have you ever been to Frankenmuth, Michigan? I had a friend you'd make an annual trip of it with family and friends every year. I've never been, but it's supposed to be pretty amazing.
ReplyDeleteYeah we've been there twice and I will tell you do NOT make a special trip there! Bronner's is the only thing that is Christmas there and it's good for about 90 minutes (being generous) of shopping. Frankenmuth as a whole is a day trip thing. You know it's bad when you check into your hotel and the woman at the desk says "if you leave early just make sure you let us know." We left 2 days early. :-\
DeleteYikes!!! That does not sound like a good time at all. I'll definitely cross that off my list. When we went to Pigeon Forge, TN a few years ago (2nd worst vacation ever) there was a wonderful Christmas store that was huge and we thoroughly enjoyed that. I was able to get the hubs a Dept 56 hockey ice skating rink for $40! That was the highlight of the week.
DeleteMy husband has planned surprise events that left me speechless twice in our 30-year marriage. To be fair, I'm not much for surprises, I like to know. The first time he surprised me with an event was for my 50th birthday. He came to pick me up at work, had my bag packed, and had already cleared the time off with my boss. He whisked me away to Las Vegas where he had tickets to The Righteous Brothers for my birthday! We kind of made a tradition of going away on our birthdays, but when my 60th rolled around, I told him I wanted to stay home and have a party so we could celebrate with our four grown kids. So the party itself wasn't a surprise. My daughter took me on what was clearly a decoy shopping trip, during which I assumed the others were decorating. I was blown away when I saw our favorite local live-music performer set up in our living room! He played keyboard and guitar, and had a rolodex of repertoire that we could choose from. At some point he realized we could all sing, and we had live karaoke with him from that point on. Come to think of it, maybe I do like surprises!
ReplyDeleteThat party sounds like an awesome time with the live performer and karaoke (as long as everyone can sing).
