Dairy goodness, DVD dupe and needing a real rest day

Holy schmoly, what a weekend!  I am so whipped.

Friday, I finally broke out the ice cream maker (affiliate link)  that my friend bought me for my birthday last year along with the Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams at Home (affiliate link)  cookbook.  Oh. My. Lord.  I should not know how to make dark chocolate ice cream this good.

The Mr and I enjoyed a few servings this weekend and price wise we got about double the amount for $1.25 less for all of the ingredients than we would pay in the store so there ya go.  I'm thinking of making peach ice cream for my grandparents and the Mr.  I'm not a peach person and it will keep him from coming down in the middle of the night to find me on the floor with the freezer opened with my face slammed in a plastic pint container with a ring of dairy goodness around my lips.

There was this big expo in town and a carnival so that was our high cal day.  We walked around for 4 hours...aka: when our legs almost came out of the sockets.  I haven't been in that much pain in a long time.  Told you I'd jinx it in my TTS post Friday.  Then when we were done there, we had some shopping to do and walked some more.  I ended up burning 1200 calories that day.  Not bad for a "rest day" so we switched our rest day to yesterday.  We stocked up on fresh produce for the week and we're ready to roll on that front.

We rented two movies last night, Stoker and The Impossible.  Do not waste a second of your life on Stoker.  We were trailer duped!  I wanted to go gorilla style on it.  (ie- Poo in my hand and throw it at the DVD)  But me thinks they may frown upon fecal matter in their rentals and then force me to buy it.  The Impossible (affiliate link)  was the true story about a family in the tsunami in Thailand...have tissues handy for that one.  Definite renter if you haven't seen it yet.  Naomi Watts was amazing.  But then again, I'm probably the last to see it.

I don't think we have anything planned for today other than a booty kickin' workout and I'm good with that.  I'm sure I'll find something to get into but I think the Mr might appreciate a day of doing nothing and honestly, so would I!

What did you do this weekend?

    1. WOO HOO!!! Does this mean you can watch what you want, wear what you want and buy what you want now? They don't come back after 3 months do they? LOL I've heard a lot of people saying they were disappointed with Wolverine. That's a shame. :-(

  3. Happy Monday! Did I really just say that?
I have that ice cream book too! Yeah, I'm pretty much afraid to make any of the recipes for fear the finished product would never even make it to the freezer. We have a small ice cream maker that I love because it only makes two servings (ok, its probably suppose to be four servings), but in one sitting between my better half and I it's all gone. No late night freezer raids = ]
I watched The Impossible about a month ago. Excellent movie! Did you happen to watch the extras offered on the DVD? It's my favorite part of DVDs. The extra interviewed the author of the book the movie is based upon, survivors of that tsunami, and showed the details that went into making the movie. I agree, Naomi Watts did a fantastic job. We should be neighbors and have movie night, because we obviously like the same kind of movies! Have a good one Anele!!!

    1. Yeah, that would probably best be made before having company over or something. Or shoving it in the back of the freezer. If I can't see something, I'll forget it's in there.

Yes, we watched the DVD extras...VERY good! It was amazing to see the set they built for the water scenes and those kids were amazing!

  4. We took in a blues show after having dinner out on Friday night, and got up Saturday morning energized to do something fun. I sent hubby to the computer to figure it out and sat down with my book and cup of tea. I was still there hours later after dark. Yep, wasted the whole day. Sunday did laundry and wrote a little. Yawn. We vow to do better next weekend!

    1. The blues show sounds good! Had to laugh at the hubby's botched attempt to come up with something to do Saturday. It happens but now you'll have all week to figure something to make this weekend epic! :)

  5. Had the little boy's birthday party on Saturday (finally, his actual birthday was July 1st), did a little shopping and a lot of chores. Otherwise a pretty lazy weekend. I'm off to the doctor in a few and then up to my classroom to try to put it in order for the school year. I can't believe how fast the summer has flown.

    1. Happy belated birthday little guy! We're getting ready to go to the doc too. Yeah the summer is flying by! I'm not complaining though since Fall is my all time favorite time of year but yeah it would suck if you were a teacher. ;)

  6. I had Friday and today off from work and am thrilled beyond words. I had breakfast with a friend on Friday, then went to the DMV (I'm a geriatric magnet, let me tell you!), and ran a bunch of errands. That continued over the weekend with BEAUTIFUL weather and then I spent time in the garden weeding it out. Dog park, grocery shopping, and a long car ride. Today I've cleaned the downstairs bathroom and am heading upstairs to clean that bathroom and the bedroom. Then I'll take the dogs out for some fun before allowing myself a nice well-earned nap in the afternoon. We're moving at work, so I'll have to unload my desk tomorrow and spend more time cleaning. The windows are open, the dogs are sunning themselves, and I'm happy to have some time on my own to enjoy some much-needed cleaning. The hubs has to have all 4 wisdom teeth, plus another one pulled, so he'll find out this week when all that will happen. Oy.

    1. OMG, you're commenting during the day! I had to do a double take! :) I'm a douchebag magnet so consider yourself lucky. I lurve old people...well unless they're in front of me when I'm in a hurry...LOL! When you're done with your house, come on over and clean mine! HA! I had the wisdom teeth pulled when I was 15...not fun but hope for sutures. That would've made my recovery a lot quicker.

  7. Saturday I cycled 31 miles and had lunch w/ friends. Grilled out w/ hubby Saturday night. Sunday we went to breakfast, I went to spin class, cleaned, and made dinner.

  8. I LOVED The Impossible, it was SO GOOD. I keep forgetting the husband still needs to see it. Ran 4 miles total on Saturday, then rest day on Sunday, except still did arms workout that was needing to be done. A nice, easy weekend :).

  9. Woo hoo! I'm glad you finally tried a recipe from that book--isn't it just amaaaazing? :D I've fallen off the wagon on my whole new ice cream recipe every weekend thing (which, let's be real, is probably for the best), but I think I might make another one soon.

    1. Yes it is and while it wasn't QUITE as dark chocolately (I was duped on the chocolate I bought), that little kick of TJ's fudge sauce made up for it. HA! I think I have a few days before my vitamin D milk expires so I HAVE to make more. So sad.
