Short and Sweet Weekend Recap

Good Monday morrow to you all.  I hopeth thee hath much tomfoolery to reminisce upon from thine weekend.  (Damn that would be exhausting to talk like that all of the time.)   We've had biblical rain all week and weekend so road tripping would've been out of the question.  No one wants to drive on slick roads for hours so we were stuck at home.  I am pretty sure unless it's for pizza, we're done eating out for a while.  I got so ticked trying to order from a new place and all of the hoops they wanted you to jump through that I said screw it and the Mr was ticked too and said they were shysters.  ($42 for what equates to Chinese takeout "bowl".  Nope.)   Then he mentioned a BBQ place and I was resistant because BBQ always makes me sick, without question.  I relented because we'd spent 20 minutes trying to find a place by that time and were both getting irritated.  Not like we spent less than we would have if we'd gone to th...

Hump Day Poll: I Hope There Are No Pictures

What has been the most embarrassing thing youā€™ve ever worn?

I'm going to defend this by saying I grew up in the MTV era when they actually played music with outrageous outfits.  So at age 8, I dressed like a Studio 54 reject to see Berlin and Thompson Twins in concert.  I don't know why, but I thought it would be totally bitchin' to wear a silver sequined tube top with matching silver sequined beret, red ruffled mini skirt, red bobby socks and pink jelly shoes.  Let that sink in.  Thank GOD there are no photos of that atrocity.  But I wasn't alone because a hot gay couple in front of us had one of the two guys wearing a silver sequined plastic trench coat and he turned around and was like 'cool outfit' and I said 'you too.'  I'm sure he was saying it ironically at 22 but it made me feel like I'd made the right choice.  I hadn't.  I'm surprised my tween boobies didn't get exposed dancing because those of us who lived through tube tops know how well they stayed in place.  Moreover, I don't know how much thought this was a good look.  I won't tell you we took the sequined ensemble back the next day.  (Don't clutch your pearls!  This was a common practice back in the day, so much so there's a Three's Company episode about it. šŸ˜‹)

  1. It was the 80s - sequins were in. I'm sure he thought the effort you put into the outfit was fantastic even if the red socks/pink jellies were a questionable choice. lol. I was never a sequins girl - but I made my own share of awful fashion choices (pink velour sweatshirt that I wore everywhere all the time. *shudders*). So glad there was no social media back in the day.

  2. 80's here too. I put sun-in in my hair and it was bright blonde and then I wore Jams shorts with a bright blue shirt and white sport coat and went to dinner with my parents at a fancy restaurant dressed like that. Nobody even batted an eye but when I see myself in pics from that day I cringe every time.

  3. I had these crazy idea that wearing an off-the-shoulder sweatshirt with a jean mini skirt with floral long underwear underneath and turquoise Converse high top sneakers would be a good look. And I wore it often! Along with purple hair. It was a scene, man.
