Belated Weekend Recap

Hola peeps and happy Tuesday.  Anyone else get engulfed by the wildfire smoke over the weekend?  Three days straight for us with lots of air quality alerts.  I hope my Canadian friends are doing okay. It was a bit of a lazy weekend to start until it wasn't.  (Thanks to me, I'm sure the Mr is mumbling under his breath.). I have been throwing myself into projects this month to keep myself from spiraling over Mom's birthday this week.  Not to mention constantly fighting every aspect of gardening and I swear I typed that sentence before that last time I tried in 2020.  I have fungus gnats in the elevated planters because of all of the damn rain we've been getting and the soil can't dry out for them to die off.  So I got some mosquito dunks that can be cut into 1/8's and put into a gallon of water overnight and then water the area to kill the larvae then dry the soil to kill the adults.  This is apparently common with organic gardening but frustrating...

Monday already eh?

Happy Monday all!

We road tripped to the Mr's hometown Saturday and it went by in a flash.  It was nice to see snow since I doubt we're getting any more of measurable degrees.  I was jealous of the New England's noreaster but I saw by Sunday the covered trails in Vermont were already melty so that was short lived.  We went to a vintage store and saw some cool stuff.

Being a font nerd, I loved this and it reminded me of print shop in high school.

It was kind of fitting seeing this Hawaiian tiki bar.  If we had the room, it would so be ours.

I fell in love with this old school Flair stovetop.  That thing even has the owners manual!  So cool!

We ate too much and were both kind of ticked that we gained this week for no reason so we got that crappy feeling of "screw it, we were super good, listened to our bodies, drank our water, etc and got nothing for it."  I know, great attitude, right but there it is.  Stranger things have happened when we've done that so I'm not even sweating it at this point.  Can't do anything about it anyway.

Sunday the Mr woke up with a horrible headache.  I tried everything I could to help him from massage, heating pad, peppermint/jojoba oil for the pain, (affiliate links) a nice brunch and eventually, he had to go to one Excedrin and a nap.   We had to get more fruits for the week and then workout. and before we knew it the day was gone.

What did you guys do this weekend?

  1. I had a great time in the old hometown but, yeah, it sure did go by fast this time. What's funny is we ended up being there later than usual too and it still all went flying by. Thanks for helping me nurse that awful headache. Made Sunday kind of a wash but getting out for a walk was just what I needed.

  2. I spent a lot of time playing catch-up. Between routine medical appointments and sponsoring a field trip I was ont at work Thursday or Friday. I sure paid for it this weekend. I did have a girls' night Saturday and taught a swimming lesson on Sunday. Both were really nice.

I'm glad you enjoyed Saturday, and I hope the Mr's headache is completely gone today.

  3. That stove is awesome! What a fun place to browse and buy. I had a really good meeting on Saturday, then finished up some paperwork, did a load of laundry, then to my ultimate delight binge-watched almost 5 hours of Who's Line is it Anyway and laughed myself silly, which felt really good. Sunday I had breakfast with a friend of mine, then we went grocery shopping, did more laundry, and romped around with the dogs. Not the best "mental" weekend, but getting those laughs in really made a difference.
