What I'm Reading This Week #28

Hello and Happy Friday my beautiful peeps!  Well, I guess I'm glad we did the tree last weekend because just as we were getting ready to leave Monday for a nursery field trip, the HOA maintenance dude shows up- no call, no email, just hoping we were home with no real knowledge of what needed to be done.  He chatted with the Mr, did a few caulks and took pics to get it submitted for siding replacement.  After that we got on the road to go to this big nursery.  Am I the only one that sweats off their sunscreen in sheets??  I swear I probably looked like I was having a stroke to passersby.  So I bought some powder sunscreen for our faces hoping that will help.  I was bummed this one great powder foundation I used years ago isn't around anymore since it had built in spf so I hope this stuff is comparable. Did a lot of stuff in the garden and it cracks me up how such a small space can take up so much of my time when I have chores to do.  The Mr's ban...

Edible Treat Bowls

On one of our high cal days, we decided to get ice cream.  The Mr wanted waffle cone bowls and I agreed but inside I was going "great, those will go stale and we'll find them in two years."  That's how it usually goes but then I thought I could actually use them for an upcoming gathering with friends.  Not necessarily as ice cream bowls but as...

You only need a few things.  Your waffle bowls, some fun candy for the current season like these pumpkins and some melting wafers (or chocolate chips will work if you don't have those.)

Split the pumpkin in half.

Melt the candy wafers for 20-30 seconds and grab a toothpick.

Put the melted wafer on the back of the candy to act as the glue.

Push it onto the side of the bowl and repeat in whatever pattern you like.

You can use other candies like these caramel candy corn.

Because they are thin on their own, you can just put the candy "glue" on the back.

Glue them onto the bowl in a fun pattern.

You can fill them with candy or other treats.  Of course you can always scoop in some ice cream if you want to make a birthday or Halloween party bowl a little snazzy as well.

You could use them for the holidays using different candies like gumdrops for Christmas or jellybeans for Easter.  They can be fun additions to each table at a bridal or baby shower and full of Jordan almonds, mints or other snacks.  Want to bring trail mix, nuts or something smaller to a potluck?  Add it to the bowl and no worries about having to keep track of someone swiping one of your "good" bowls.
