What I'm Reading This Week #28
Hello and Happy Friday my beautiful peeps! Well, I guess I'm glad we did the tree last weekend because just as we were getting ready to leave Monday for a nursery field trip, the HOA maintenance dude shows up- no call, no email, just hoping we were home with no real knowledge of what needed to be done. He chatted with the Mr, did a few caulks and took pics to get it submitted for siding replacement. After that we got on the road to go to this big nursery. Am I the only one that sweats off their sunscreen in sheets?? I swear I probably looked like I was having a stroke to passersby. So I bought some powder sunscreen for our faces hoping that will help. I was bummed this one great powder foundation I used years ago isn't around anymore since it had built in spf so I hope this stuff is comparable.
Did a lot of stuff in the garden and it cracks me up how such a small space can take up so much of my time when I have chores to do. The Mr's banana pepper plant hit the top of the cage so I had to move it to a pot after pulling out all of the flowers from it. It went into transplant shock but seems to be rebounding. I can't say the same for the bell peppers which I feel like should have actual effing peppers on them . They've just basically stunted and have done nothing. I've given up on cherry belle radishes. I've tried two rounds of them (one sown indoors and the other sown directly) and all I got were two small radishes out of like 22 planted total and got a bunch of radish colored roots that never bulbed up. 🖕 I heard of this site Le Jardin du Gourmet that sells sample packs for $.50 so I got samples of French Breakfast radishes, shallots, parsnips and Belgian endive.

(Note the ? on the labels as who knows if they'll be ready or if I'll get to them 36.2 seconds too late and they implode) |
I wish I'd read up on what it takes to actually see Belgian endive to the cute little heads but I'm only out $.50 I got turnip seeds in the next day so those just went in instead. I REALLY hope something comes out of those because I swear the only thing I've grown food wise is specific lettuce, arugula, two small radishes, and 7 baby carrots. I see people harvesting left and right while my garden with organic potting soil, compost and such just laughs at me. I did so much research, babysat these bastards from seed and it feels like all I'm getting is more stress. I'd like the reward please. I have 4 tiny San Marzano's that are just dangling there not really getting bigger, and no other ones despite there being flowers. Aren't people at the point where they're giving them away they have so many? Very frustrating.
Now let's give away:

A big thank you to those who bought through the above post for Prime Day. (Or any links ever.)
A reminder, Prime Day ends tonight so hop on over. I did birthday and Christmas shopping and I can't tell you what a relief it was to get that done and save some money. I did see that weed popper on that post is marked down by 60% so it's a steal! I'm sure we'll find some kind of tomfoolery to get into this weekend and I hope you do too!
What's cookin' this weekend on your end?

ReplyDeleteNo plans so time to chillax.
Have a great weekend
We are recovering from storms and flooding here from yesterday. Cars literally stopped on the street because you couldn't see a foot in front of you. Retention basins filled up so fast and on to the streets that cars were buried up to their doors. Our very big and heavy grill was blown over on our deck so that was quite the monster to upright. Our neighbor's tree split in half and is currently laying in our other neighbor's yard. So we will be doing lots of clean up as soon as the backyard is no longer a lake. Have a great weekend getting into some shenanigans!
