Fingers Crossed Weekend Recap

Good Monday to you fine party people!  I hope you got to enjoy the mid-May weekend.  We kind of did.  What was not in the brochure was a nice power outage Friday at lunchtime just as the Mr was trying to cook his egg in the microwave.  While he hooked up the Bluetti's to the fridge and crockpot (kicking myself for not doing that Thursday), I put his egg on a small cookie sheet and put it over two candles and covered it with another cookie sheet.  It might take 3 hours but if you think with the price eggs that we're losing that thing, nope!  😝 Welp, I was finally able to transplant the wee (and not so wee) seedlings to their permanent homes.  I was basically forced out there due to the power outage Friday but thankfully it wasn't oppressively hot.  I got the clematis' potted up to bigger pots , sweet peas transplanted, my herb pot together and the zinnias and snapdragons in the wall planter.  Thankfully the electricity came back on by 4pm so...

What I'm Reading This Week

It's finally Friday!   Yeee hooo!!  This week was a bit too draggy for my taste.

It was quite nice settling in and watching Sleepy Hollow last night.  I had to be very vigilant about not reading any spoiler posts from related websites.  I hate how they give away waaaay too much these days before a season even starts.  I'm hopeful this season will be a good one and if its not, at least I get to stare at Tom Mison for 42 minutes each week.

But enough about my "free pass", let's get to...

9 Time-Saving Bathroom Cleaning Hacks  (Because no one wants to clean it longer than they have to)

15 Perks of Getting Married in Your Early 20s (or Even Younger)   (The only thing better than growing old with your best friend is growing up with them)

Is It Bad to Do the Same Workout Every Day?  (Inquiring minds want to know)

A Diabolical ‘Jeopardy!’ Contestant Tricked Alex Trebek Into Saying Turd Ferguson   (If you don't know the reference, watch the SNL video at the bottom of the link first)

11 Kitchen Storage Spots You Completely Forgot About  (Ooh, might do the in the cabinet ones!)

5 Places to Never Use Your Credit or Debit Card  (Hmm, I wonder if the Mr will change one of these habits)

Lush, Foodie Abundance in a Small Urban Garden  (Holy crap this is awesome!)

This weekend we're doing an early birthday lunch for the Mr with my mom.  We've got plans for his birthday weekend so I figured if we could do it early, it wouldn't get overlooked.  Somehow he seems to get lost in the shuffle some years so I try to make his birthdays exciting.  (He hasn't been in town for his birthday since he turned 39.)

Anything on tap for the weekend?

  1. Woohoo,hope there's only 1 Dawn in your followers :).
This weekend should be fun, heading outta state for Hubster's Aunt and Uncle's 60th anniversary bash. It's pretty cool his family keeps me included even though he has been gone over 4 years! Bonus that I have my Mom here with me and can take her along. She is looking very "Maxine" with her post cataract surgery.
    Have an awesome weekend!

  3. The credit/debit article was interesting. A friend of mine had her checking account cleared out over the summer (everything was returned to her, thank goodness - the bank/insurance made good) and she was told never to use her debit card at a restaurant where they take the card from the table and bring back the receipt. I guess I'll just have to start using cash everywhere, or go back to writing checks, The gas station thing is bothersome too, because sometimes I just don't have time to go inside and wait in line to prepay.

    Have a great weekend.

    Congrats Dawn!

  4. Happy early birthday to the Mr!! Hope it's an excellent weekend for you guys. Not much on tap this weekend other than cleaning (I've been gone the whole week so my household chores are waaaaay behind), transferring scripts, paying bills, and watching some football. I'm giving my body a break today from exercise because of all that I'm doing at mom's house -- I haven't sweated like that in a long time! My lower back is quite sore and out of the blue my monthly friend came so I've got some serious low back cramps going on. Grrrr.... It's going to be cool this weekend (love it) so I plan on snuggling down with a book at some point too. Have a great weekend!!
