Survival Mode Put Us Back to Zero

A lot of you came here many moons ago when I left Sparkpeople.  I loved the community of that place and the support I got there.  It was at the height of us being on our game.  That motivation you have in the beginning when you're consistently rewarded with weight loss, smaller clothes, compliments to keep your motivation high and you somehow begin to step out of being invisible to the public to people smiling at you, opening doors or striking up conversation.  You start to feel human.  You don't have to worry about going to restaurants or 'fitting' somewhere.  You can go to a wedding and see those God awful thin folding chairs and while you still don't like them, you're not concerned.  Many of your worries that fit people never had to think of, have faded away.  We started for the long haul in our 30's and that's when we had the most success, losing 226 and 190 lbs respectively.  When we went on vacation, as long as we came back and got rig...

My day in pictures

I don't have a pic of us doing free weights and yoga but pretend.  :-)

Talked the Mr into a hooky day and the zoo was calling.  It was heavenly and very cute.

The cuteness continued with a swing by the pet store and a very soft, furry beagle I named Maddie.

Dinner was apple bbq pork chop (my ode to pork chops & applesauce) and chipotle bites.
Dessert was a family birthday gathering at Menchie's fro-yo.  As you can see, I ate healthy.  :-O

What would your pictures of yesterday show?

  1. It was a great day hanging out with you, as always, and I had a good time hanging out with the family and eating that yummy Menchies!

    1. It was a wonderful day! Just what we needed and I think people actually liked going to the fro yo place. Next year, dinner where *I* want no matter what side of town! Pffft!

  2. Yesterday is a day I'd just as soon not have pictorial evidence of. The morning was fine, but the afternoon just kept getting worse. Nothing major happened, but a string of annoyances left me all green and hulky by bedtime. Hopefully today will be better.

I'm glad you had fun at the zoo.

  4. Taking care of 3 dogs, biking to work, day at the office, volunteering at animal shelter, biking home in the dark (since it gets dark earlier-boo hoo), welcome home barks from dogs and hubby (ok, he didn't bark), watching the red sox on the couch while eating a sugarfee fudgicle!
    Long day... but good!

    1. The chipotle bites are from Trader Joe's. Very yummy and when I tried to recreate them myself, I found that it was only like $.20 more to buy them pre-assembled there so I let them have all the fun and we eat them. HA!

    1. It's super easy! For 2 pork chops I use 3 tbsp brown sugar hickory BBQ sauce and 1 tbsp of chunky apple jelly. After you've grilled up your seasoned chops, brush on the sauce and enjoy! :)

  8. Sorry I missed your birthday. My computer got fried in a power outage and then we had issues restoring it, had to change the operating system, yadda yadda yadda. I wish you the very, very best. I never know if you reply to my posts, never get notices of replies, anyhow. If you ever want to get hold of me, be sure to use my primary email, not my gmail. Sending love to you and your Mr.
