The Dreaded Question: Hump Day Poll

So I know no one wants to think about it but here's today's hump day poll:

Have you started holiday shopping yet?  Are you shopping earlier than usual due to anticipated delays or are you about on schedule?

I am 90% done and 75% wrapped.  I need to figure out what size box to get for one to be shipped and then that'll about do me in.  I'm usually done and wrapped by November 1st.  I'll check in one more time with grandpa's wife to see if she has any ideas and if not, she's getting a gift card.

(And you've heard me say it before, but I'll shout it out again, if you're not using Rakuten (formerly Ebates) to get cashback, you are missing out!  In 7 years I've gotten $1200 of my own money back to me.  We bought our chandelier and dining room table from West Elm with the cashback I hoarded all of that time!  (No, they don't sell your info either.)  This time of year on, the deals for double and even triple cash back start to become plentiful.  While this isn't a sponsored post, if you decide to finally sign up for it, consider using my referral link.  When you spend $30, you'll get $30 and so will I apparently.  If not, no biggie but I always like to remind people this time of year so they can save even more!)

  1. I did my shopping and am just waiting for boxes to arrive, then I can get wrapping and catch up with you. This is not any sooner than normal though. I like to be done early and not have to worry about looking for items that are out of stock or whatever. Only downside is sometimes you might miss out on a potential sale price but its worth knowing that everything is done already and you can just enjoy the holidays.

  2. My shopping list gets smaller every year. With all the zoom calls during work from home I've gotten some crocheting done so some folks are getting some nice afghans this year.

  3. I have started but I am no where complete. This is about where I am in my shopping list every year. I tend to pick up stocking stuffers all year long, when I see stuff on sale or something special that might not be around at Christmas time. My Christmas shopping normally kicks into high gear when the Christmas stuff starts to appear at Costco.

We have also already picked up the Santa gift for my partner's son. We found someone selling an autographed hockey jersey for his favorite player online and jumped on that deal. It has been in the closet since last year.

  4. It's been such a bizarre year that my shopping this year has been different. I have the majority of it done, but not wrapped quite yet. A couple of friends asked not to do exchanges this year because of the hectic chaos and we can't see each other, so I was good with that. Another friend said lets just slap a gift card in the mail to each other...done! So my list is a lot smaller than it normally is but the shopping I did get to do I was very excited about (ahem) because it got me into the spirit! I'll enjoy doing the wrapping and have a couple more things to buy that only become available around this time of year so those are the last minute items I need to grab.

  5. Haven't given it a thought yet. Was going to take a trip somewhere warm as the gift but, yeah, corona. My kids are minimalist so it's hard to get an idea.

  6. No. I usually do all of my shopping right after Thanksgiving, and most of my shopping is done online. Even though I live in a big house, we have kids that would find gifts if I started buying earlier, plus I would forget where I put a gift if I hid it.

  7. I have picked up a couple things, so that actually puts me further ahead than usual. I'm a last-minuter most years. I'm trying to figure out how to wrap lawnchairs so that's fun.

    1. They have big bags you can get for bicycles. Maybe that could work? Something like this. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Holiday-Time-Bike-Poly-Gift-Bag-Snowflakes/965748710?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=2098&&adid=22222222228000000000&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=m&wl3=42423897272&wl4=pla-51320962143&wl5=9014986&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=965748710&veh=sem&gclid=Cj0KCQjw28T8BRDbARIsAEOMBcx-Hfnxdb6JWV_OaeBCymsW4ctpc3MxRmHaCw0PzfjvxWRpm4g5Y8MaAh9OEALw_wcB
