Belated Weekend Recap

Hola peeps and happy Tuesday.  Anyone else get engulfed by the wildfire smoke over the weekend?  Three days straight for us with lots of air quality alerts.  I hope my Canadian friends are doing okay. It was a bit of a lazy weekend to start until it wasn't.  (Thanks to me, I'm sure the Mr is mumbling under his breath.). I have been throwing myself into projects this month to keep myself from spiraling over Mom's birthday this week.  Not to mention constantly fighting every aspect of gardening and I swear I typed that sentence before that last time I tried in 2020.  I have fungus gnats in the elevated planters because of all of the damn rain we've been getting and the soil can't dry out for them to die off.  So I got some mosquito dunks that can be cut into 1/8's and put into a gallon of water overnight and then water the area to kill the larvae then dry the soil to kill the adults.  This is apparently common with organic gardening but frustrating...

What I'm Reading (and Eating) This Week #40

Happy Friday everyone.  Finally made it!

We've had some good dinners this week to get us set for movie watching.

Monday we had Spicy Maple Chicken, Mashed Sweet Potatoes with Green Beans which was amazing.

Tuesday was Butternut Squash Ravioli with Roasted Broccoli

Hump Day brought us Sweet and Spicy Salmon with Sweet Potato Gnocchi and Curry Cauliflower

Last night was Peanut Chicken Stir Fry.

Now let's dish on...

Father of the Bride 3 (ish) (Best 25 minutes you can watch this week!!  We've been waiting for this for decades!  The original Father of the Bride was our first movie date and most of our wedding had elements from the movie including dancing to Steve Tyrell's version of The Way You Look Tonight.)

ā€˜Father of the Bride,’ the Pandemic and Me  (Nancy Myers talks about making the Father of the Bride sequel and what parts of herself she projected onto George Banks.  Only read AFTER you watched the previous link!)

I'm ready for the first weekend of October.  We've already started our horror movie watching about a week ago with Pet Semetary, Nightmare on Elm Street and Halloweentown.  Last weekend, I thought maybe we'd go paddling this weekend but it's going to be a high of 55 which means like 45 at the time we'd get there.  I don't think we have enough color to make it worth getting nippley over just yet.  Who knows, maybe we'll end up in another state again...or not.

Any plans for the weekend?

  1. This week went by super fast but I am not complaining at all about that. So glad it's the weekend and happy that we made it to October!

  2. What a week...glad it's behind all of us now. Just came back from a long drive in the country with the dogs. First time I've gone the long route in quite a while. It's a wee bit too chilly though with the windows open and no real change of colors yet. We're due in about 2 weeks so I'll take them out there again. I'm doing laundry today and putting together a neat little table I bought. The rest of the weekend is typical stuff with grocery shopping and work. I'd say doing house stuff but I make no promises at this point. LOL And I WILL make my banana bread today (she said for the past three weeks)!
Have a super duper weekend! =o)
