What I'm Reading This Week #28
Hello and Happy Friday my beautiful peeps! Well, I guess I'm glad we did the tree last weekend because just as we were getting ready to leave Monday for a nursery field trip, the HOA maintenance dude shows up- no call, no email, just hoping we were home with no real knowledge of what needed to be done. He chatted with the Mr, did a few caulks and took pics to get it submitted for siding replacement. After that we got on the road to go to this big nursery. Am I the only one that sweats off their sunscreen in sheets?? I swear I probably looked like I was having a stroke to passersby. So I bought some powder sunscreen for our faces hoping that will help. I was bummed this one great powder foundation I used years ago isn't around anymore since it had built in spf so I hope this stuff is comparable. Did a lot of stuff in the garden and it cracks me up how such a small space can take up so much of my time when I have chores to do. The Mr's ban...
There is almost a collective feeling I get about decorating early this year and I think it would be nice to get the decorations up fairly soon after Halloween is done.
ReplyDeleteI learned something new today already. I, too, was today years old when I found out what a spinet was.
Nope - I won't do Christmas decorations until after Thanksgiving. I must be the outlier b/c as much as I enjoy seeing other people's displays, having my own tree up actually stresses me out. Mostly because the cats think it's a kitty jungle gym. I can't put up my fragile ornaments and I'm pretty sure my artificial tree is broken now from one of them trying to climb up and sleep in it last year.
ReplyDeleteI think its a fun idea to get some of the bulky things up, like the tree, in increments so it doesn't feel so time pressured. So a tree with some light is brilliant (I'm also a huge proponent of trees being up until Valentines Day....again, just lights, because winter is too dreary otherwise with the shortened daylight). This year though there's a good chance we may bot put up any because of our work schedules and both of us ready to drop. We don't do a lot like we used to anyway, but this year may be slimmer than usual if we're too exhausted. Hopefully we'll muster up some energy if we can though. Oh, and for those who put lights on outside, now is a perfect time to get them up before snow and ice. Don't have to be turned on but at least up and ready to go. 😁
ReplyDeleteI always try to not think about Christmas until after Remembrance Day (November 11th), as a sign of respect for our veterans. We always have a real fir tree, so that won't go up until a week or two before Christmas. We have friends that farm Christmas trees and set up a tree lot to sell them from December 1st to the 23rd. We will often go help them sell on the weekends and take our wages as a tree for our selves. However, the rest of the decorations will go up starting the first of December.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as the Fraserfirs are out im decorating
