Nutcracker ornament we bought in Woodstock, IL where they shot Groundhog Day. |
Don't think I just skipped over Halloween though, we did go to a Halloween show at a dance company last night and had a great time. I've always wanted to see a modern dance version of something like that and I think while the Mr was a little apprehensive at first, he ended up liking it! At least that's what he told me. I'm sure he wondered what I got him into when it started off with naked dudes. (I'm just sorry I didn't have quarters to bounce off of their tight dancer derrieres. Oops, did I type that?) It was really good but their version of Renfield looked and acted like Mr. Peepers which the Mr. so nicely pointed out early in the performance. This meant every time he came on, I pictured him dry humping Dracula or his cell and wanted to bust out laughing. I almost did a few times. But it was a nice way to spend our Halloween. I also might have added a little Halloween candy to my breakfast yesterday...
But now it's time to move on! :-)
The Mr ran a virtual 5K on the treadmill yesterday. He was so proud of himself and so am I. It was good practice for if he ever runs one in "real" life. That's his goal, not mine. I only run when chased. But I did want to offer my own personal brand of support I left for him the night before since he got up at 5:30am to do it...
I got my new point and shoot. To say I hate the way it feels is an understatement. I was seriously ready to box it up and send it back until I did this:
What events are you looking forward to this month other than Thanksgiving?

Well, I have my annual physical next week. That's always exciting. :)
ReplyDeleteKudos to the Mr. on the 5k success!
That IS exciting! HA! I shall pass it along to him!
DeleteI don't have a lot planned for the next two months. No parties or anything lined up so far, but I'm sure there will be some cropping up. I'm looking forward to my folks getting back next week. They've been out of town for 3 weeks, and they get back next Wednesday. It'll be longer before we actually see them but it will still be nice to have them back in the same state.
ReplyDeleteThis time of year things just tend to pop up from outta nowhere. Welcome back to the 'rents!
DeleteI LOVE the Holidays!!! Our Christmas tree goes up on Black Friday and it's ON from there! Glad you enjoyed the derrieres, er, I mean show = ) Congrats to the Mr. on his 5k too! Great note!
ReplyDeleteYou know it girl! I might do some of my shelf/mantel decorating the weekend before since I'm doing a cake ball class for my family but the tree goes up Black Friday while I laugh at all of the news reports of the jam packed mall parking lots. ;)
DeleteI'm looking forward to my birthday on Saturday and our first Christmas tree in the new house. Ours will go up on Black Friday too. Enjoy the weekend!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!! Enjoy it! Yay the holidays in a new home will be exciting.
DeleteLove the note! Congrats to the Mr on his 5K. My friends and family know that if they see me running they should probably follow because something like a clown or large spider is chasing after me.
ReplyDeleteI too am GIDDY with the thought that by months end my home will be Christmas Wonderland! I have the boxes stationed but my husband refuses to bring them into the house yet. I'm in a larger house and firmly believe there is room for two trees. He is complaining that the airplanes will mistake our house for a runway when I'm done. He needs a shot of Christmas glee right in his derriere!
ROFL...word up, same here! It reminds me of the time we were on Kauai (which is notorious for "good luck geckos" under the covers) and I got in bed, felt something on my foot and ran to the other side of the room while the Mr (who was in the bed) asked what the problem was. "I felt something under the covers!" He leapt out of bed only to retrieve...my compact. D'oh.
DeleteI say you bring the boxes in one at a time and when he's gone, sneak in the extra tree. What's he gonna do, make you take it down? :)
No pictures of the Halloween show? Darn. lol
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to moving into my new house, my birthday, Thanksgiving and decorating for Christmas in the new place, all to take place between the 16th and the 23rd. What a week that will be! Was hoping to make it to in-laws' for Thanksgiving, since our kids can't come here for various reasons. But after the last holiday trip when it took two hours to get thirty miles out of town, DH refuses to contemplate it. My MIL and I both have sad faces. On the other hand, that gets my Christmas decorations up a week earlier, so there are compensations. Still chuckling at vannasmom's comment above.
They frowned on that but if I could upload the pic my mind took whilst booties were around me, I would!
DeleteThat sounds like a great week! Maybe you guys could travel on a non-peak day and surprise the MIL? ;)
Events other than Thanksgiving to look forward to??? BLASPHEMY!!! hehehe just kidding.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to guilty pleasure for a moment and actually admit - in WRITING - that I'm looking forward to the final Twilight installment. What - don't judge! LOL
I'm also looking forward to Black Friday shopping and having the ENTIRE week of Thanksgiving off of work! So excited!!!
Thanksgiving was too easy! I gotta make ya think, yo!
DeleteI won't judge you for Twilight if you don't judge me for Stayin' Alive and Clue.
OH, you're one of those nutty black Friday people. Have fun out there while I'm putting my wrapped presents under the tree. HA!
Congrats to your hubby for his virtual 5K! I have done 2 5K's this year and to say I've run would be a severe understatement. I ran part of the way, then walked. Then I would run to a certain point and walk (quickly) again. My goal was not to finish last and I achieved that goal both times and improved my time the second time. The sense of accomplishment I felt when I was done was incredible. I posted pics on my blog and since then I've had lots of family tell me that I've inspired them to get off the couch too. (I'm sure they are thinking "If the fat one can do it, I surely can too!") LOL! For November, I'm looking forward to working on my Christmas shopping. Goal is to be done by Dec. 1. Ya right!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I will pass it along to him! Congrats on your 5K's as well. He's been talking about a 5K for 2 years, I might just sign him up for one and freak him out. (If he read that, he's pooing himself right now) Hey girl, you never know who you inspire and whose watching. I have a cousin whose lost 92 lbs this year and he attributes us as his kick in the butt which is pretty awesome!
DeleteI'm looking forward to my co-worker coming back from his medical leave so I don't have to do his job and mine anymore (November 19!!). Really, I'm burned out having to actually WORK for a change (it's really cut into my goofing off time, which I resent heartily).
ReplyDeleteUgh, I remember that when people were on vacation/absences and it seems you never really get the proper thank you for all of the poo ya had to put up with while they were gone. Hope you get back to goofing off soon!
DeleteBwahaha! Your note is hilarious. Congrats to your husband on running the (virtual) 5K! I've been toying with the idea of getting a treadmill. I like running, but not so much outside. Love how the photo turned out with your new camera. I'm sure you will get used it!
ReplyDeleteI am in "taking things one day at a time" mode right now. Although I am hoping to hit up Sur La Table (it just opened!) and West Elm this weekend...
It was my version of standing at the finish line with a sign. :-) I HATE the treadmill (unless "Moves Like Jaggar" or "Girl Panic" is on) but if you're a runner, I'd say go for it. We've had ours for like 10 years and its still going strong. (Watch it break tomorrow)
DeleteGirrrrl, be prepared to roll with glee on Sur La Table's floor with frilly aprons, sprinkles and placemats letting out noises only heard in the wild!
I was thinking of running a virtual 5k with SparkPeople but I'm only at about 3.5km in my runs and I don't want to push it too far yet!
ReplyDeleteIn Canada we already had our Thanksgiving, but I love seeing American thanksgiving stuff pop up all over the internet (yay for pumpkin recipes!!) and my birthday is at the end of the month (after which we put up the tree!)
Congratulations to your Mr!!! That is just awesome and I'm doing my jazz hands over here! =o) I loved the note you left for him...what a hoot!
ReplyDeleteAs for November, I just had breakfast this morning with a friend of mine and had a wonderful time. Next Sat. is my eye appt (only 5 years overdue, so the fact that I'll be able to see again is truly exciting). Thanksgiving is going to be a bit iffy due to family drama (I'm a crappy daughter, don't you know?), but no matter what I WILL be making Thanksgiving dinner and enjoying every minute of it, even if no one shows up. The hubs and the pooches will surely enjoy it, so that will make me happy. I started a few new goals last week and I'm very excited (new exercise routines and "decluttering" strategies). And I'll be making one new recipe every week from now until the end of the year so clear out my file and to see what's worth keeping and what isn't. I've been off the cooking bandwagon for a while now (hubs loves to grill, so he's been doing that), so it's time for me to get out of my funk and start participating in my life again. And of course, I'll be watching Snoopy wrestle a lawn chair for Thanksgiving again...wink wink.
Love your nutcracker ornament photo! I just love nutcrackers! Can't wait for December 1st to put up our tree. In November I look forward to today (Election Day) - I love seeing all the neighbors at the polling place and people all around town walking to vote, makes me feel happy to be part of the community.
