It is like a rehab center in our house...both of us are injured. Sunday I fancied myself moving up to the next level by doing actual plyo during Turbo Fire in the form of jumps. I was fine..I thought. Then the next day my left foot started cramping and getting pain shooting through it randomly. Tuesday was an at home circuit where the Mr pulled his lower back doing ab work. By the time Wednesday night's Turbo Fire rolled around and the Mr determined he could do it, I decided my body was just going to have to get used to doing plyo and shut it. Well my body told me. I could barely walk yesterday and we did Walk Away the Pounds to give my arches a break; both of which were cursing me in various languages. I would be doing fine then my foot would give out or cramp up and I couldn't bear weight. It made me feel like I was weak. When we arise from the table or couches, we hobble, groan and creak like we're 80. It's quite amusing/sad/irritating. Last night before bed when I was getting rather discouraged about it, the Mr said he recommends that I don't do plyo anymore until I'm forced into it like he is. He has great lung capacity so you can't bust out 1000 calorie workouts anymore. He told me to wait until I had to do that stuff to get my heart rate up and not be in a rush to get there. I didn't agree at first because I felt like I was keeping myself stagnant but he's right. I need to have some aces in my pocket when I need to bust out some new moves. So I guess I'll back off of plyo a bit. Wah wahhhhh.
I've burned my required 4200 calories this week and given that I've gained the past 2 weeks when I went way over that limit, I'm not going to exercise today so I can give my arches time to recover and hopefully strengthen. My water has been hit or miss and Aunt Flo is swinging from my innards so I expect nothing on the scale this week and honestly, as long as it's not another damn gain, I'm okay with it. (Though with my current amount of bloat, I'm not hopeful.)
Oh hey! Remember when I said I got away scot free without a bruise on when I b!tchsnapped myself with my resistance bands? Well, I didn't....
Excuse my horrendous chunkage. So yeah...it's purty.
What I wouldn't give to be doing this weekend what we were doing one year ago today. Sigh.
Any fitness owies for you right now? Any plans for the weekend?

I can't believe that was a year ago already.
ReplyDeleteI hope you both recover quickly so your weekend plans aren't marred by pain.
I know! I can't either! In some ways it feels like it's been 2 years since we've been to Memphis. I miss it so much!
DeleteThanks, me too! :-)
uh0oh...hope u guys feel better soon..i hate workout injuries..its like muscles u didnt even know existed start complaining...grrr....

I know. In my feet it's definitely a ligament thing. I might get arch support insoles to help with that. While I'm at it maybe I'll add shuffleboard and pinocle to my schedule. ;)
DeleteThat is a nasty bruise you have and we are a couple of limping fools these days! We'll get better though and be better than ever. I think we may actually benefit a little by doing the "less is more" workouts over the next couple of weeks. It's nice to change up the pace sometimes.
ReplyDeleteYeah you're right. I can't wait for Ilaria's workouts to come out! January is going to be a slap in the face. Right now I'd be happy getting back to what I started out the month at. :-(
DeleteHope you guys feel better and take some time to pamper yourselves this weekend.
ReplyDeleteI've got a band to go see tonight and a 1 year olds birthday to go to tomorrow. Living the dream.
Have a good one!
Thanks girlie! Have fun at your concert and party, you dream weaver!
DeleteI'm rehabbing too...have an annoying tweak in my knee and because Google is such a wealth of information I can fairly certain diagnose that I have the beginning of "runner's knee". All the symptoms are there...
ReplyDeleteSo I'm attempting to head it off with some RICE. Hang in there as you rehab and good luck on the scale this weekend!
I'm embarrassed to report that I have no current fitness injuries to report. (I'll try harder next week! :) )
ReplyDeleteSeriously, the one fitness message I got over the past few years was to listen to my body and give it a rest when it demanded. Otherwise, it will get its revenge! (I've got a "squeaky" quad leftover from 4 years ago. Lesson learned, but do you think it will forgive me? Nope.)
Take care of yourselves!
I feel your foot pain! I hope you can get rid of that cramping sensation. I woke up in the middle of the night with a cramp in my calf and the front of the same leg. I couldn't flex or extend! And I have a possible hairline frature in my foot. So I totally get the hobbling movements. Glad you're not exercising today for a chance to rest those tootsies!
ReplyDeleteTomorrow we go have Thanksgiving where my uncle lives at an assited living place. Mom doesn't want to have it at my house (there goes that 17 yr tradition), so we'll spend a couple of hours there and that's it. But the hubs, pooches, and I will have our own Thanksgiving, just without all the stress, so I'm thankful for that.
I hope you're both better soon. I am prone to injury too, mostly because I'm so uncoordinated. And man, those bruises are huge! Ouch. :( Looks like someone pummeled you with their fists!
