Boring Weekend Recap
source Monday, we meet again. You come on like lightning you saucy wench. I hope you all had a great weekend and managed to keep cool. We got up to 96 at different times so that's...fun. I have to start with these two cards I got in the mail Thursday night. The big paper one is from the friends we gifted our old grill to. The Mr and I cracked up at the hot dog 'thanks' on what is an exact image of the grill along with a lovely note from the Mrs of the couple thanking us profusely as they didn't have money to replace their grill that was falling apart. The other is from my friend I've known since 1988 and he doesn't send out cards much so this was a surprise. It was him telling us how lucky he is to have us a friends and how much we mean to him and he thought we should know. It made me cry for sure (and then of course check in to make sure he was okay. He is.) Obviously any kind of communication is appreciated but t...
Maui Baby!! I daydream about going back there all the freakin' time!
ReplyDeleteWell, if England wasn't in such a state, I would love to go and visit my friends.
ReplyDeleteBut, since it is, I would love to be in Capri, Italy. It's really my dream destination.
Anywhere but here. Seriously, I'm torn between a new adventure somewhere I've never been and just lying on a beach somewhere. Either would work just fine for me.
ReplyDeleteEasy for me to answer...Ireland, of course. Easy to place myself there in my mind right now because I feel like I just stepped off the plane after an overnight flight!
ReplyDeleteI think right now I'd like to be walking along the cliffs at Kilkee, in County Clare. And afterward, I'd pop into a pub for a pint and some really good food.
I would be backpacking through Europe! I want to see the old castles and the cool cities! To be free for a few weeks to explore my heart out is heaven!!!
ReplyDeleteAnywhere but here. I love Italy...Ireland...England...The Caribbean (though maybe not in Hurricane season) But at the moment, I would go anywhere for two days that was unplugged and away from here. I'm ready to be gone.
ReplyDeleteBoy, do I need a vacation, too! I'd probably be aboard a cruise ship headed to Alaska--or Mexico, or the Caribbean, or anywhere. Right this minute, though, I'd like to be doing the Hood to Coast relay in Oregon. Yeah, I'm nuts. :D
ReplyDeleteA mountain cabin, the nicely done kind not the bare subsistence kind, with a fully stocked frig and pantry. Comfy chairs and sofas, a lake nearby stocked with fish, a couple of dogs to keep me company (the kind that sort of come and go on the their own timetable), a town not too far away if I need to restock supplies and NO people unless I want them there. The smell of pine trees and cool evenings spent on the portch, a wood fireplace and a good book. I'm gone!
ReplyDeleteGreece. Right now I would settle for anywhere but here. Earthquake earlier this week, now Hurricane Irene heading our way. I want out!
ReplyDeleteCabin away from technology and phones... hiking trails, fireplace, but close to ammenities (the resort where we took our honeymoon).
ReplyDeleteMostly, I just resport to a good escapist book and a bowl of apples. Good thing hubby and the Divine Miss O agree... we turn off the phone and TV and all pile into the queen size bed and read for a few hours.
Hey, have you read Michener's 'Hawaii'... it's one of my favourites!
I hope your weekend leaves you feeling refreshed!
Love it! Love all of the responses and all so varied!
ReplyDeleteLet's jet!
Our vacation to the Smokies is only 3 weeks away! It'll be our first vacation in 3 years. We have gone up to the Northwoods for the past several years (favorite place in the world), but decided to give something new a try. I hope it's as good as it looks!
ReplyDelete*sigh* Here we go again. Now it won't take my post, this time because it's trying to force me to give up my phone number. Not happenin! I'll post it all again to see if I can figure a way around it.
ReplyDeleteFor me, I'd be in New Zealand, exploring that nation's beauty, admiring glowworm caves, experiencing the powerful waterfalls, taking in the lush, green beauty of that land. However! I long to take my husband to Ireland so he can walk where his ancestors lived, touring the cathedrals, castles, and high crosses in that gorgeous place.
Missy- Girl you are the only person I know who has had this problem so far! It LIKES you! Rawr!!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Sanibel Island. I'd be sitting on a beach chair under an umbrella listening to the waves. I'd walk up and down the beach picking up only the most perfect shells. I'd go to Matzaluna (I think that's the name of it) and have the best crab bisque ever and some great pasta. The only thing that would make it better would be a hammock to lay in and read a good book. I'm feeling myself relax as I think about it!!!
ReplyDeleteSince I haven't had the time to think about a vacay, even a mental one, I'll borrow yours. You temporarily took me away from the crzy here and described a wonderful escape. Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteTravel itself creates a lot of stress for me, but I sure could use a break from my daily burden. That said, just a get-away in one of the local mountain cabins around me (East TN) that does a sort of bed-n-breakfast thing where they drop off breakfast for you and leave you alone. No TV, no internet and trails to wander along and a porch to rock on. Pack in groceries to fix simple dinners and lunches. Just a few days of peace and quiet, no agenda, no running around.
ReplyDeleteAhhhhh - yes - your vacay sounds DIVINE!!!
ReplyDeleteIf I could be on vacation right now I would be sitting on the porch of a cabin inhaling fresh mountain air tinged with pine listening to the birds chirp at squirrels as they flitter through the trees...the cabin could be anywhere as long as it was insect free and cool! I'll take it!!! LOL
Back to the region of Tuscany in Italy with hubby.
