Did Statins Help?
Pardon if this is riddled with typos but it's 2:30am. I got my lipid blood test results back yesterday. I'm going to assume heading into perimenopause years shot my numbers up because nothing has changed food wise (though stress wise it's been astronomical the past few years which apparently contributes as well). A reminder, I was at 264 at the beginning of December and my shuck and jive speech to get my shit together didn't land well with her. After a talk with my bestie who is on them convinced me (us) with her experience, I relented and agreed to go on them. After almost 4 months on a 10mg dose (the lowest dose available), I'm at 184. So, I guess they work. 😂 I will also say this is with zero dietary changes and a pretty scattered workout schedule the past two months. I hope in time when all of the projects are done and we are finally able to focus on ourselves that I can eventually go off of them with hard work. I'm pleased with...
I'm sorry. Hugs to you today. It sucks to work hard and do all the right things and have a medication hold you back, or an injury take a fair number of your favorite workout methods off the table.
ReplyDeleteBe careful with that thumb, though. My husband had a similar sprain and using the splint was what let it heal.
I know you'll keep working your plan, no matter what, so I hope you enjoy the weekend and yourselves!! You're doing all the right things, and can only control what you can control - and you've got that part covered in spades!!
I had to laugh at your, "If only I could get my sweet tooth pulled"! Me too! My weight loss journey would be smooth sailing if I could lick that one.
ReplyDeleteI just started following your blog, and haven't read earlier posts, so I don't know if there is a reason that you must be on birth control pills. For what it's worth, my husband and I have used the Billings method of fertility awareness for 34 yrs., and have had two planned pregnancies. It's easy to use and has no side effects.
My heart does go out to you in your present circumstances. Plateaus are nasty, and to have hormone problems and a sore thumb at the same time..... arghhhhh!
Don't give up. I'm amazed at what you've done so far, and know you'll keep losing as you persevere.
Sounds like things should turn around once you get off the BC pills. Although if you change high cal days at the same time you may not know for sure what did the trick.
ReplyDelete*sigh* Once again I typed out my comment and in brought me to the blog sign up thing. I clicked that I already caved and filled it out, and it brought me back there twice, then gave me the dreaded Error 404. Not sure if this will go through or not.
ReplyDelete*hugs* You know how these things go. You'll be ready to kill or die with frustration because you're doing all the right stuff and that scale is stubborn and stuck, and then --BAM-- you'll get a four pound loss in one week. You are the queen of consistency. Just keep doing what you do best and the scale WILL catch up.
*thumbkiss* Heal, little dude, heal and QUICKLY!
I'm sorry these pills are giving you fits. I'm on my new one as well and I have zero clue how I'll do once I'm "regular". Taking pills and bleeding every day kind of seems counterproductive, eh? Everything I've read says bc pills are so low-dose now that weight gain isn't nearly as common...and yet.... It's just frustrating to think this tiny pill can alter things so much. Keep working your plan and taking care of that thumb in the meantime. Women and our bodies...pfft.
