What I'm Reading This Week #26

Well you made it to Friday!  I don't know where y'all are but unless you were near Glacier National Park that got snow this week, you were probably boiling in your own pudding to quote Charles Dickens.  I do not dig 90 degrees by noon and it feels like everything is frying left and right including us.  Most of the week I had the 50% shade cloths on the veggies to attempt to save as much as I can.  I need to get the next batch of lettuce in the shade planter to see if I can successfully grow there over the summer since it never gets direct sun.  I told the Mr the other day I feel like nothing is in the right place back there.  I have a lot of containers and I don't know if I need to put some of them on a little ledge since the 5 gallon buckets take up so much room or not.  The zinnias being in a long planter on the fence were a mistake but they were only put there because I had so many extras and didn't want to chuck them.  I have a few struggling...

Hump Day Poll: In the Summertime

It's been a while so thought I'd do a Hump Day Poll!

What are your go to summertime activities?

For me?  Counting down to late fall and staying in the A/C.  šŸ˜„

If it's 83 or under, lately we might go for a walk for our workout or geocache.  If any movies ever look interesting then road tripping to the nearest drive in can be nice as long as it's not stinking hot but if so, we have battery operated fans we bought during a week long power outage 10+ years ago that we'll take and also these window screens for the doors because they're notorious for spiders climbing on the car.  (The horror should be on the screen not in the car with you!)  I wish I could think of more but it's people season and that means into the bat cave for me!

  1. I do enjoy summer days that aren't blast furnace hot. Like to go paddling when we can as long as it's not too hot out.

    1. Boy, there's something we need to get back into if the inflatables aren't at their burst point. LOL

  2. I enjoy sitting on the deck under the tree with a good breeze. Early morning walks at the park are very peaceful, too, before it gets too hot and busy. I also like going to the local minor league baseball games in town, but we haven't been able to do that the past few years. It's still something I enjoy and hope to get back to one day. One of the things that really makes me happy is to sit on my front porch when it's that summer rain and the smell is so tied to summertime.

    1. That sounds heavenly, especially the rain. Don't know the last time we had actual rain here.

  3. I can only hope for 83! Our forecast for this week is a high of 64 and a low of 44! That's living on an island on the east coast of Canada for you! But we are getting the pool ready, fingers crossed it gets a little warmer soon!

    1. I'll trade ya, those are my spirit temps! LOL How are you guys doing with the wildfires? Everyone okay?

    2. Haha I could use it a little warmer! We're good in Newfoundland so far but we had a dry winter with not much snow so there is concern about wildfires later in the season. Smoke from Quebec is expected to head our way over the weekend though.
