What I'm Reading This Week #22

Hello and happy first Friday of June!  You blink...it's June.

This was the first week we started incorporating strength training back in.  (Gotta do that when the weather hits gross hot which will likely be until December. 😣)  My muscles are probably in shock.  Even though we didn't walk every day on vacation, I would say we walked a few miles every other day-ish which helped for a smoother transition into walking our park when we got back.  Sometimes we come back and our first two laps are the big teller of just how lazy we were on vacation and it typically takes a week to not huff and puff as much.  It was leaps and bounds better than when we returned from Vermont after the holidays.  (Though it doesn't help when you are wearing a coat that weighs 15 lbs on top of the vacation weight you gained!)   This week has sent us back into the dungeon as temps were in the high 80's/early 90's and you all know mama ain't down for that!  Monday we moved some of the stuff from the reno back upstairs like the other two dining chairs, the wicker chest that is our coffee table and lamp so we could have room to actually workout again.  We haven't had the motivation to get hanging anything back up on the walls including the six 20x30 pictures I got for the new echo chamber (aka-hallway).  We'll get there...eventually.

Now let's get into:

Posterior Chain: Anatomy, Function and Exercises  (As two hobblers with massive SI joint issues a month ago, this is important!)

7 Things You Should Always Do Before You Drink Coffee in the Morning—Not After   (Never thought of any of these but I'm not working out before coffee...well, not my main workout anyway.)

7 Signs of a Toxic Family  (Wow, a little sobering when yours ticks every box and you were blind to it for decades.)

Kevin Smith Shares His Lifelong Struggle With Body Dysmorphia After a Teacher 'Told Me I Was Fat'  (Watch the video.  Utterly heartbreaking watching him fight back tears.  The things trusted adults say to us can screw us up for a lifetime.  My great grandma said to me at 11 in front of my favorite aunt/uncle and cousin "if you work hard, you can get skinny like Mandy."  Mandy went off on her and told her I was perfect and beautiful."  What no one knew is Mandy was bulimic and was one day found in a pool of her own blood almost dying to be thin.  Keep your mouth shut when it comes to weight.)

Nothing on tap that I know of.  We need to reign it back in on the food front since we splurged on cookout eats last Saturday.  I suppose I should start planning tomorrow's stuff today so we don't stray.  I need to earn my "200 lbs lost" badge back.

Whatchu up to this weekend?

  1. I'm ready to plan too. Maybe get some semblance of a patio together so we can stare at it from inside since it's too hot most days to use it...or maybe do some morning work out there who knows. Enjoy your weekend everyone!

  2. It very hot and humid here as well and that's the outlook for the next seven days or so. We just need to do our watering of the grass patches outside and take the pooch out, but we'll be indoors other than that. May or may not grill, so I need to come up with alternative meals in case we don't. Have a great weekend!!
