Short and Sweet Weekend Recap

Good Monday morrow to you all.  I hopeth thee hath much tomfoolery to reminisce upon from thine weekend.  (Damn that would be exhausting to talk like that all of the time.)   We've had biblical rain all week and weekend so road tripping would've been out of the question.  No one wants to drive on slick roads for hours so we were stuck at home.  I am pretty sure unless it's for pizza, we're done eating out for a while.  I got so ticked trying to order from a new place and all of the hoops they wanted you to jump through that I said screw it and the Mr was ticked too and said they were shysters.  ($42 for what equates to Chinese takeout "bowl".  Nope.)   Then he mentioned a BBQ place and I was resistant because BBQ always makes me sick, without question.  I relented because we'd spent 20 minutes trying to find a place by that time and were both getting irritated.  Not like we spent less than we would have if we'd gone to th...

Good Lord Weekend Recap

Y'all, this week kicked my butt up and down the block.  I did a lot of distressing of boards and I did the 'right' thing by conditioning the pine boards I was working on before staining and my Lord it turned into a crap show of mass proportions which I will detail in a different post.  I kept trying so many things to try to rectify the situation and it was laughing in my face.  When I felt like I found the solution, I had to get so much done because I was working against the weather both temperature and humidity wise.  I almost beat it but it beat me on the last day because the last five boards I was working on ended up shitting the bed.  The original stain ended up getting 'pulled' by the correcting stain and if they were flooring, they would've been 'closet boards.'  The funny thing is, despite never in a million years wanting the same color as the flooring we laid down, that's exactly what I ended up with.  

Universe laughs.

We were ready to roll yesterday and got down to business.  As usual, it took longer than you think it'll take.


I'd say it was a solid 6 hours of work and the Mr did a great job.  There's still much to do.  There's a wall hanging we're both crapping our pants over but we've got one other little thing that needs to be done on the wood wall before we can move on to the other project which will hopefully be tomorrow or Wednesday.

We saw a local big box store was transforming their parking lot into an impromptu drive in playing Christmas movies.  While we're not huge fans of Elf or It's a Wonderful Life, we decided we needed some Christmas cheer and to chill after all of that.

    What a relief it is to have put another major dent in our DiY projects. I know we have more to do still but any time we get one thing done it just feels good. I am so glad we got a chance to see the movies last night cause that kind of kicked off the season for me in a big way that I honestly wasn't expecting. Have a great week everybody!

    My goodness, you guys have been at it!! So glad you got so much done and hopefully this next part won't be nearly as bad as you fear. And how fun going to the "drive-in" for some holiday movies! That's just what you needed to unwind a bit.
    Weekend was busy with work and I was extremely tired when I got home yesterday. My plans kind of went out the window because I was just too fatigued. But I managed to get some things done so I can't complain. This week is super busy starting today, so I just have to push through and hopefully by the weekend I can look back and see great progress has been made.
