Warm Weather Hygge

By definition, hygge (hooga) according to the Denmark website is about "taking time away from the daily rush to be together with people you care about - or even by yourself - to relax and enjoy life's quieter pleasures."   There's a fun little book I read on vacation back in 2018 called The Little Book of Hygge: Danish Secrets to Happy Living and I loved it so much, I bought one as soon as I got back.  There was actually nothing more relaxing than reading that little book curled up on the couch in the sunroom with a cup of tea and is one of my favorite memories of that trip. Many tend to associate this practice in the cooler months of Fall and Winter because it tends to focus on the act of being cozy.  Snuggling under a blanket, enjoying a warm, healing cup of tea by the fireplace (or fireplace on TV ), lighting a favorite candle while doing a calming hobby like cross stitch or scrapbooking.  Being a hyggephant, I can tell you that I never associated warm wea...

What I'm Reading This Week #19

Happy Friday everyone!  I hope you've had a good week and are ready for whatever you have planned for the weekend.  We've had a nice week and I'm hoping this is our last week of frost so next week we can get flowers.  The only ones out now are what I call "suckah flowers."  The ones they jack the price up by $5 per flat for 1/3 less product for the people who can't wait to plant and better have invested in burlap.  I think everyone is very much ready for pops of color to have an extra place to "escape" to.  I can't wait to get the patio fully together but we've got a few small projects in our future.

But enough about my escape room, let's escape to...

  1. I do think we should attempt that outdoor project if weather allows. It would be nice to get the outdoor space ready to use too because I think we will need to have that to relax in for sanity. Everyone have a great weekend!

  2. The hubs and I cut the lawn yesterday so it'd be done for the weekend. We'll be bringing our little flowers inside tonight because we are supposed to get a hard freeze that hopefully will only last a day. We ordered new grill grates so those should come in about a week and we'll be able to grill again, which will help tremendously with dinner ideas with very limited time with our schedules. Today I work for a few hours and then will get all the laundry done. Grocery shopping tomorrow, then hanging out with the hubs and pooches before I have to go to work.
    Have a great weekend!
