Hump Day Poll: What Takes YOU Back?
In a world that is spiraling down the toilet ever changing, and sometimes not for the better, there are small things we can do to create little pockets of nostalgia from a simpler time. It's harder and harder to find things from your childhood and if you do, often they aren't the same. (I still lament the death of the taste of Chef Boy Ardee boxed pizza mix. Sigh) But for me, there are a few scents that I can rely on that are still out there. When we were dating, one of my favorite scents was that spray musk and I was tickled to still be able to find it! One spritz of it and I'm ready for a night on the town with the teenaged Mr in his Iroc. I was also happy to find Night Magic from Avon is still available and gives me that same feeling. My friend got it for me last year and with as much as I use it (rarely to never), I'll have it until I'm dust. (I did find the solid perfume compact in a bin and still have it if I want to be truly...
It was so nice to get out and ride in the snow. Worth the drive and good for the soul!
ReplyDeleteI love when the weather does the unexpected. A cool overcast day in the summer, a warm day in the winter (but like one warm day, not the whole winter), snow or rain any time of the year. I love overcast grey days when everyone else is griping about the weather. To be fair though, I would probably get tired of it if I lived somewhere that has that type of weather all the time.
ReplyDeleteThe sleigh ride sounds wonderful. I'm so glad you guys were able to make it happen.
So happy you got your sleigh ride!! Looked like a spectacular day! And that does rejuvenate the soul.
ReplyDeleteWeather-wise for me I, too, like cloudy days, especially with the smell of spring in the air. I enjoy rainstorms, but since my one little fella stresses in those, I've tamped down my enthusiasm. I'm not a winter person, nor a summer person, and I'm finding autumn to be less and less of a season the past five years or so. But spring is pretty consistent it seems. If I can be sitting on a dock on a small lake and hear nothing but rustling trees, fish and frogs plopping in water, and the lapping of small waves, no matter what the temperature is, that's my happy place.
If you want to see massive amounts of snow I would suggest Googling images of St. John's, Newfoundland. They had a massive storm late last week and are still trying to dig themselves out.
ReplyDeleteGrowing up, I recall weeks with snow on the ground. I miss that. Yes, I'm a little further south now but my hometown doesn't get a whole lot more snow. I was up in Toledo on Saturday and it was so windy the cold wasn't fun. But since I was driving I was just grateful we didn't get the wintery mix that was predicted.
ReplyDeleteGlad you were able to get out and enjoy it! Looks like a great ride.
