What I'm Reading This Week #25

Hello and happy Friday from the land of the scorching sun.  We are in for absolute Hades conditions the next few days, right on cue for the summer solstice.  You know I'm not happy about that. 😒 Thankfully, my other 50% shade cloth just arrived and is airing out so they can go on in the afternoons.  I have stuff in the big planters that are not fans of scorching heat so I need to be as on it as possible if I don't want it to go to poop for other reasons to add to the current reasons.  (Rain, pests, etc) I'm tryin' y'all!  I just got my little lint rollers to roll aphids/larvae off instead of wasting shipping tape.  I swear to you I have not seen ONE BEE since everything went in.  There was this chubby bumble bee that would hang out when our lilac was in bloom and just zone out levitating so I thought for sure she would be here for it all.  Nope.  The second it bloomed, it was gone.  I haven't seen honeybees at all.  I've checked ...

When the Birthday Girl is the Gift


Today is one of my best friend's birthday.  The weird thing is that we've only met in person once.  Well, maybe these days that's not so weird.  We clicked when we found each other on a site and when I left, we exchanged emails and kept in touch.

Over the years, we have been each other's cheerleaders, support, virtually cried on the other's shoulder, been silly and sassy.  Outside of the Mr, she is the person who knows me the best and still loves me anyway.  She accepts me more than anyone in my family and friends even I've known my entire life.  When you find someone like that, you realize what a rare gem that is.  We finally got to meet up for the Groundhog Day 25th anniversary in February and I'll admit I hoped that the reality didn't blow it when she met me!  LOL  You know how you can get along with someone but when you meet in person, there can be awkward silence and that kind of thing.  Nope.  We had to remind ourselves to get some sleep because we had a groundhog to see in the morning otherwise we would've talked all night or until our heads started bobbing (more).  :-)

So on this, her birthday, I'd like to tell her that she may be getting the gifts but to those of us lucky enough to have her in our lives, she's the gift.

    That's awesome! And your besties lives in my neck of the woods if she lives near Woodstock! Let me know if you ever want me to drop something off lol.Hapoy Birthday to Her! My 35 year bestie lives in my hometown 150 miles away. She has been through it all with me my good times and bad. We talk about once a month for 2 or more hours. She is my polar opposite and keeps me grounded. One of the best people I have ever known. My local bestie befriended me when hubs died. I talk to her at least every other day and she is super supportive and my biggest fan and funny as shit. I would take a bullet for either and love them both to death. I can't imagine life without them.

    I have no words. Just sitting here a big sobbing mess! LOL This is such a precious gift to me. Your words are like no one else on the planet. We can say anything we want to say, no filter required, and that is so rare. I'm so incredibly thankful that God had our paths cross on that site and how a life-long friendship built from there. The Woodstock trip was AWESOME and like you said, there was zero awkwardness (which for me is big because I'm awkward in general) and I had an absolute blast with you and the Mr. That picture brought a huge smile to my face because it was like being in the movie. We even forgot for a while how lip-freezing cold it was! LOL You are truly my sister at heart and I love you to bits. What an incredible gift this was.

    My bestie and I have been friends for - OMG 42 years!!! We met in high school. We each thought we were another girl's best friend and she ended up turning on us both, so we got together over our shared love of country music and have been friends ever since. We've traveled all over the world together before we both settled down later in life. She's been there for me through every minute of my life, good and bad. She's my rock and there is hardly another person's word I would take over hers. She's smart and fearless and we always have a great time when we are together. There are just those people that you click with and you're lucky when it happens!
