What I'm Reading This Week #22
Howdy do and welcome to the last Friday of May. 😑 Even though it was a short week, it always seems just a tinge longer than the previous week. I'm getting antsy because I want to see blooms. When you're growing from seed, it requires a patience I don't naturally have and trying to keep things from getting to everything before it has a chance to. Then reading about some God awful hornworm that can just come in and decimate your tomato plants overnight. It makes me wonder at what point do I put up the insect netting over the bucket veggies. Other than that, not much else going on this week. Let's hop straight into: Does Walking Build Muscle, Burn Fat, or Both ? (The part about e-scooters is often a discussion as kids on them and e bikes rocket past us in the park or on a sidewalk going 20 mph. These kids are going to have ZERO muscle.) Eat This, Not That: 12 Powerful Foods That May Help Lower High Cholesterol After 50 (I need...
I am glad we tried this and it is good. But yeah it does not hold me very long so I have to eat an egg or something with it for the extra protein. My favorite cereal as a kid was Cinnamon Toast Crunch followed closely by Lucky Charms and Frosted Flakes. Hard to choose honestly.
ReplyDeleteForgot to say, as an adult my favorite is the Kash Dark Cocoa Karma and before anyone questions the healthiness of that one, look at the protein content in that!
DeleteMmmmmmm.....cereal. Cereal is definitely something I can't have in the house for very long. It is hard for me to pick a favorite. The ones I always go back to are Cheerios (plain or multigrain) and Life. Rice Krispies were a big one in our house growing up but now my mom keeps Lucky Charms for the grandkids (weird how that works out).
ReplyDeleteI loved Frosted Flakes and Froot Loops as a kid. As an adult it's been Rice Chex and plain Cheerios. I've been eating three different kinds of protein cereal with cinnamon lately and I like all three of them so far too.
ReplyDeleteToo many kids cereals to list that I like. Peanut butter cap'n crunch would have to be at the top of the list. Speaking of peanut butter, I did try the Kashi peanut butter cereal, and it is very tasty, but like the cinnamon, it doesn't hold very long.
ReplyDeleteGrowing up my favorite cereal was Golden Grahams. As an adult I get the occasional craving for Captain Crunch or Frosted Flakes. Once in a while I see something I can't resist trying (Nutter Butter cereal - are you serious? Of course I have to buy that). Mostly though I'm not much of a cereal person and when I do eat it I'm more likely to use it as a night-time snack than breakfast.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid we had to eat Shredded Wheat or those puffed cereals with absolutely no taste. In my younger days (20's and 30's) you couldn't get anything but Frosted Flakes or Cap'N Crunch (any variety but ESPECIALLY Christmas Crunch!) at my house. Now that I'm old(er), I don't eat any cereal....
ReplyDeleteMy parents loved puffed rice and shredded wheat. It makes me think of miniature hay bales!!
