What I'm Reading This Week #16

Good Friday to you!  Literally.  I can't believe Easter is here.  Anyone else having epic wind and rain storms over the past month?  I mean good friggin' luck trying to enjoy any time out there and we're not afraid of weather.  As I type, there are 40mph gusts.  I went out to paint the critter cages on the planters and feel like I have hypothermia at 47 degrees when yesterday's weather forecast said it would be 74 today.  Da fuq?  Guess who finally took the bedroom Christmas tree down Wednesday?  It was neutrally decorated so it was fine but it came on every night and gave a cozy glow.  I knew one day I would look at it and know it needed to go to sleep until November 1st.  That's the other thing, I will be decorating for everything extra early from now on.  August 1st- Fall decor as I will thoroughly be over summer by then and given that's the day Mom passed, I'll need something to lift my spirits.  November 1st it'll be ...

Egg brain, numbers and wandering criminal minds

Remember the old 'this is your brain on drugs' PSA's from the 80's?

Well, that is my brain on VRBO.  I have scoured it for the past two days day and night and I swear if I look at one more listing, my brain will slide out of my nose like a runny egg.  I used to like looking at vacation listings.  Then I was forced to book a vacation not fully planned on the fly with only 25% availability.  Try telling a control freak she can't have the rental she would've chosen had all of her options been available to her.

*twitch*

You know, I don't get how I walk almost 40 miles one week and then come back, do yoga, Walk Away the Pounds, a free weight session and a Gilad (low impact) workout and feel like I've been dragged behind a truck.  I go see the chiro today so he can ward off whatever way I screwed my legs on this trip in addition to the way I screwed them from the trip before.  Ahh, the mysteries of the body.  But I can take him the coffee I picked up for him in Chicago and maybe he'll give me a few extra squeezes on the house.

Last night we did Gilad in Jerusalem.  I'm not tracking numbers this week.  Just getting back into regular exercise and regular healthy eating before I start the numbers game back up again.  It makes me feel like I have some kind of control over things.  I know, weird.

Dinner was orange roughy over quinoa duo.

Did anyone else watch Criminal Minds last night?  So sad.  But I must say, I thought Ben Savage did a great job!  I'm also a fan of the length of Reid's hair.  I don't know why I like him better with longer hair.

Sorry, my mind wandered.

As you were.

How far in advance do you typically plan vacations?

What's your favorite long running TV show?

  1. I know what you mean about not tracking just yet. I am always a bit up in water weight after a trip so it's nice just to eat healthy again and let my body adjust back to that before being too concerned about all the specific numbers.

    1. Yeah, we're not used to eating that much sodium in the form of deep dish and burgers so I don't even bother weighing in or tracking that first week back. I just want to get back into the groove and then focus on that stuff.

  2. I have a few long running favorites - Supernatural, Bones, Castle, Walking Dead. And a few newer shows that I enjoy too like Sleepy Hollow and Gotham. I have to say though that, almost across the board, this season has been weak. Or maybe it's just me.

I'm more of a weekend or one night getaway person than a true vacation person, so I don't need to book very far in advance.

    1. No, I think you're right. I don't know if it's the sophomore slump on a few or writers are phoning it in on some shows. Let's hope it corrects itself soon!

  3. I love Criminal Minds. I knew they were doing a "throw back" last night but I had no idea they were going to do that to Gideon. It makes sense, but it's still sad. I do like Reid's hair longer, too, and I think Garcia is looking good. Not a big fan of the newest addition, however.

As far as long running shows go, I still watch CSI, but it's not a big deal if I miss it. I watched SVU for years, but not so much this past year. I like NCIS - I think I will always watch that as long as Mark Harmon stays on it.

    1. Yeah I knew they were doing a throwback but for some reason didn't see that coming. :-\ Garcia is lookin' fine these days! I'm indifferent to JLH. I think they're purposely not giving her many lines (she doesn't seem nearly as involved as Jeanne Tripplehorn whom I liked). She's pregnant IRL now so we'll see how they deal with that. Likely big purses and tables.

I think we stopped watching CSI after Grissom left but the few episodes I've seen with Ted Danson, he seems to fit in well.
