What I'm Reading This Week #24

Sup y'all!  Welcome to flop sweat season (and Friday!)  I hope you had a good week and stayed cool.   I had to wave the flag and pull all of the 'impatiens' I grew from seed as that is not the plant I apparently bought.  I'm still going round with the people I got them from because dammit, I want a refund.  So I had to go to the nursery and get regular impatiens to replace the ones I pulled.  It's already nicer to see actual color instead of looking out everyday and wonder WTF they're going to turn into other than some rando plant with a thick, juicy stem.  Not that the ones I got look a ton better as they too are leggy.  I don't know what the deal is with that.  I also grabbed some chives half off to plant with the zinnias to keep the aphids at bay.  Who knows if it'll actually work or not, we'll see. Now let's see: 9 Foot Exercises to Try at Home   (I've been doing these over the last week and oochie owie for my weak azz feet...

Protein with a cute face

About 2 years ago I really went wild with the bento stuff. Bento lunches are more like art and portion control combined. There are all kinds of food molds, picks, cups and the most fun, bento boxes to carry it all in. I've got 2 really cute bento boxes I'll have to take pics of but for now I wanted to share my morning friend.

Bear Mold
Insert freshly hard boiled egg & close
If you don't start out with a crappy egg,
yours will look better than this! :-)

Put a dozen eggs in water that is boiling, let them boil for 4 minutes then turn off the heat. Let them sit for 15-20 minutes in the water and remove them to a bowl. If you want to put them in the molds, this is the perfect time. The eggs are still warm inside and easier to peel. Pop them in the mold, close them, wait about 2 minutes and pop 'em out and put them in a storage container. Perfect not just for kids but adults too. It makes getting in a little extra protein extra cute!

Hopefully this will give you an idea of how you can make your meals a little more interesting!
