Halfway Through September Weekend Recap
Howdy-eth Do-eth? Anyone else in the 90's today and the rest of this week? 🤬 It's like summer is getting out its last wrath or something. Not to say when the calendar flips to 'official' Fall that it will suddenly drop in temps but I did see low 80's on the horizon even though my body is quite ready for 60's, sweatshirts and fuzzy socks. But I know at least one or two Indian summers or whatever people younger than me in the PC realm call Satan bursts await in October. I am happy to say I was able to get into the basement Friday and that pic from Friday's post is actually a reality on top! It still looks like steaming garbage on the floor but I do what I can. Saturday we decided to drive and find a Town de la Podunk and see what we could get into. When we arrived at said place, we had a swing and a miss for an old fashioned donut shop. For the love of God, they are not dinner rolls dunked in DQ chocolate dip cone sauce....
My crush loved Duran Duran and her brother and my brother were friends so she found out that my older brother had gone to the Duran Duran concert and asked me if I could get her copies of pictures. I don't know exactly why I didn't just ask my brother but I decided this was the perfect opportunity for a covert mission into his room where I found his negatives (it was a disc camera, ugh) and took the disc negative, put it in a pouch I had on my bike and rode my bike pretty far out of normal bike riding range for a kid to take it directly to her house on a Saturday. She was quite puzzled that I didn't just have my brother give it to her brother but obviously I couldn't tell her that it was just because I wanted to see her, that would be too direct and sane! Instead I said something like "Oh I was heading this way already" yeah right! Well the inevitable happened and my brother found out I had stolen the negatives from him and he eventually got them back but it was just a lesson in how we do irrational things sometimes for a crush.
ReplyDeleteI did all kinds of crazy stuff when it came to crushes. Cut my hair into a punk style for one kid, smoked for another, pretended I had the same horrible music tastes as another, and did a lot of pre-teen/teen stalking just trying to catch a glimpse. I remember a friend and I would walk to a dark park across the street (a dead end street) from my main crush's giant house just to see him drive up after school. Pitiful, pitiful, pitiful.
