Hump Day Poll: Your Childhood Go To's

Candy Edition! I was thinking about my Mom's 50th birthday party.  It was a wonderful memory because I worked really hard on it and planned it for 9 months to make it great for her.  Because she didn't have a 25th wedding anniversary, I knew I was going to go all out for her 50th.  I had family, friends, people from high school, co-workers (ones I knew she liked! 😁) and I loved seeing her face when she would see people she hadn't seen in a long time.  One of the biggest hits that people talked about for years after were the retro candy baskets on every table.  I bought ones that I knew were her favorites as well as looking at what were popular at the time.   People lost their minds and were squealing like kids when they saw their favorites. I got all of the candy through Candy Favorites website and it's always so fun to look through. I was perusing the site, I was thinking of what stuff I'd want in the baskets on my table for a party like Mom's: Cher...

What I'm Reading This Week #49

Hey y'all!  It's finally Friiiiday!  (Yeah, just isn't exciting as it was pre-pandemic!  LOL)  We've been cramming in whatever external Christmas cheer we can with drive by light excursions and such.  The kitchen has looked like a cookie bomb went off in it so nowhere to take dinner pics this week.  Monday night we got subs because the kitchen was taken and the table had about one foot of space available.  Not a habit I want to get into but was grateful the Mr went to pick stuff up while I finished up.

I was able to get my two boxes of Christmas gifts to my friends out then I decided instead of trying to cram in a social distanced visit with the MIL and my other friend who was expecting no cookies this year that I was just going to give myself a break and send them out overnight.  $22 per package for large (but didn't look large) flat rate box but honestly, it took some weight off of my shoulders so this year, I'll take it.

Now let's weigh in on...

This '12 Days Of Christmas Workout' Will Keep You Fit Throughout The Holidays  (Those deadlifts seem a little fast to me but maybe they're supposed to be lighter weights than the heavier ones I use for that.)

Small batch Christmas recipes  (I love this blog and having the ability to not have a bunch of leftovers.)

How to Steep the Perfect Cup of Tea Every Time  (Gotta perfect the steep, yo!)

Con Watch: Eight Essential Tips for Cybersecurity  (Because cyberdouches never take time off.)

It’s Easier Than Ever To Make A New Face On Social Media. But Is It Killing Your Confidence?  (This crap freaks me out.  Before filters were even a 'thing' I had people I knew guilty of Photoshopping out so much crap on themselves that the next time you'd see them, it'd be like they aged 10 years and gained a ton of weight because they trimmed off so much visual pudge.  Your wrinkles are still there.  Your chins are still there.  Your batwings are still there.  They are a part of you.  STOP lying to people with filters that make you look like a creepy, tall infant.  Obviously, I have no opinion on this.  LOL)

A Case Against Gift Giving  (I half expected it to be written by Charles Brown but this could be the year to take a break just like with everything else.)

The Best Christmas Skits In SNL History  (Definitely a few of our all time favorites on here!)

We're going to be chilling for a while so no plans for the weekend.  We've committed to enjoying this holiday season to the fullest with some movie marathons and trying to find some virtual holiday concerts and that starts tomorrow.

How are you spending this weekend?

  1. I want to sleep in and then I want to clean and declutter stuff. Then we can enjoy some Christmas movies. Have a great weekend everybody!

  2. It's been an insanely busy and equally insanely irritating day. Accomplished "some" of what I wanted and spent the rest of the time peeling myself off the walls. Usual stuff this weekend and work again tomorrow night...Saturdays come way too fast now. Oh yeah, because there's no days off essentially. ARGH!
