Our Christmas Decor 2020

I figured I'd share some of the parts of our Christmas schtuff that changed from years past.  I don't really consider it a home "tour" but that's what people who blog call them so here I am pretending I'm a blogger.

The first spot to get any kind of Christmas cheer this year was the kitchen.

I got some cedar faux garland back in July and a month or two ago, I got these wreaths from Etsy.  The vintage red spice tins are from an antique store and the gravy boat from another shop.  I love the way it looks in there.

I just added a few candy canes to Santa's bag from the last pic I shared of the shelf over the fridge.

I haven't been able to focus on how I want it but it'll do with this "ain't no one seeing the house but us" Christmas this year.

I do like that I'm able to see it from the space I share a blood supply with the couch while I type to y'all.

I likes mah view.

Another view I quite like is the dining room looking into the kitchen when I'm walking that way.

Lots of greenery and some dried oranges and lemons on the chandelier and I swoon every time I see that bit of brick.

This year I added a gold antler and a little greenery to the birch logs in the vintage milk crate from Billings Farm in Woodstock, Vermont.

Simple but a nice little pop of somethin'.

I got this scroll from Zo and Jordan for a change in that spot.

(Don't worry, the candle isn't as close as it looks in the pic.)

I do like the way it looks in that space.  I will say shipping took a while and that was probably a month ago so I wouldn't depend on anything arriving before Christmas but maybe they'll have a good sale afterward.  I know I plan on looking!

We shook up the mantel a bit this year.  I had my heart set on a sign that just wasn't going to arrive in time so that will have to be for next Christmas.  When we went to the Norman Rockwell museum a little over a year ago, I almost bought the Christmas in Stockbridge print but we didn't want to risk the glass breaking as we traveled.  I decided to go ahead and order it and I knew it was going to be small but it will have a better suited home next year.  I was not ready to put away the vintage sconces from the other wall so I wanted to see if they'd fit beside the print and we really liked it.  Then you add the Victorian carolers I've had forever and it seemed to work:

I also put up some swags on the mantel with dried fruit, some gold bells I got from Amazon and ribbon leftover from the kitchen wreaths.  I decided to leave the red, white and green lights off the tree this year.  I just couldn't deal with the overload of colors but we still like it with the rice lights.

Of course the vintage skis went back up.  This year I snatched up these pieces from Decor Steals when I saw them in July.  "May you never be too grown up to search the skies on Christmas Eve."

I assure you, I'm not.  😉  The pics we usually had there are just too small so they'll probably get donated along with a few bigger ones that need to vacate the premises.

I didn't take a pic of the armoire because honestly, it's kind of a hodge podge of stuff and looks kind of junky.  I need to get something more cohesive going for next year so I'll be keeping my eye on IG accounts that I like since I suck at Christmas vignettes.  The most important thing is Grandma's gumdrop tree is up.

I hope you've got some cozy holiday decorations going to lift your spirits as well!

  1. You have outdone yourself this year for sure and everything looks great! It has been nice to just sit and look at everything to take it all in with the tree lit and watching Christmas movies. That is what the season is all about (Charlie Brown).

  2. Your home looks beautiful. I have no where near that level of motivation or creativity to decorate my home like that. I have garlands above my kitchen cabinets and on the stair rail, stockings hung on the stairs since we don't have a mantle, and a few odds and ends out. But there is no big step change between our normal décor and decorating for the holiday season. The real Christmas tree is normally the center of our decorating. I think we will be going to cut that down this weekend.
