What I'm Reading This Week #18

Happy Friday everyone and welcome to May.  We had a long week of getting the garage together so the Mr could finally park in it six weeks later.  We still have some work to do in there as far as purging and such but we needed to get the space useable again since it's been a holding tank for our old countertop/sink, old grill waiting to be picked up by a friend, insulation, built planters and patio table and extra fencing from critter cages.  We haven't had the mental drive to figure out how we get the shelves in order.  I think I'm going to have to look up some garage organizing articles or something because it's really overwhelming to look at it all.  If we can get a plan together to tackle it then maybe we'll have our weekend plans for next weekend as long as it's not hot yet because we don't want to be in a sweatbox. Now let's peek into: Dietitians Agree, Eating More Might Be the Secret to Your Strongest Year Ever   (Volume eating FTW.  It's been ...

Food Review: Enlightened Sweet Cinnamon Bean Crisps

When the president of Enlightened reached out to me to give their Enlightened ice cream another try on them, boy was I glad I did!  She also included a chance for us to try their new Roasted Bean Crisps which are only available at GNC if I'm not mistaken.  Because we have a sweet tooth, we immediately gravitated toward the Sweet Cinnamon.

Here's a peek at the nutritional info:

Here are the ingredients and the WW SmartPoint value:

They looked really good and given the fiber and protein, would be a good snack if we wanted something post workout or later in the evening.

So how did they taste?

Hmm, well they were crunchy for sure.  I'm not sure I tasted the sweet part of the sweet cinnamon but stevia can sometimes do that.  It did have that bit of a stevia aftertaste and I'm not a huge fan of that.  I definitely wouldn't steer people away from them because I just have a weirdness where stevia is concerned and am hyper aware of its aftertaste.  If you use stevia and are fine with it, I think you'd really like these and they could be great to have on hand or add some texture to yogurt or oatmeal.

We haven't given up though.  They also have savory flavors available and I'm thinking their mesquite BBQ will be our next try!

What is your favorite crunchy snack?

(We were provided this product free to try.  The opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine.)

  1. They do have a good amount of protein and I could see eating them after a workout or something but I am all for trying the more savory kind. I get the same stevia after taste that I don't care as much for, but others might not mind so much. There is a good cinnamon flavor too so don't be to discouraged by that if anyone out there is wanting something like this.

  3. I have purchased these from our local Walmart. I haven't see the sweet ones but have tried the mesquite bbq and the garlic and onion. Both taste great though I like the mesquite bbq better. I like the good amount of protein and the crunch!

  4. I have this weird thing for celery and pickles and peppers together. I'm an oddball! LOL
