Did Statins Help?

Pardon if this is riddled with typos but it's 2:30am. I got my lipid blood test results back yesterday.  I'm going to assume heading into perimenopause years shot my numbers up because nothing has changed food wise (though stress wise it's been astronomical the past few years which apparently contributes as well). A reminder, I was at 264 at the beginning of December and my shuck and jive speech to get my shit together didn't land well with her.  After a talk with my bestie who is on them convinced me (us) with her experience, I relented and agreed to go on them. After almost 4 months on a 10mg dose (the lowest dose available), I'm at 184.  So, I guess they work.  😂   I will also say this is with zero dietary changes and a pretty scattered workout schedule the past two months.  I hope in time when all of the projects are done and we are finally able to focus on ourselves that I can eventually go off of them with hard work.   I'm pleased with...

Scenes from the weekend

This weekend went by far too quickly, just like last week.  Beh.

Saturday I recreated one of our favorite dishes from Charleston's Brown Dog Deli, the mesquite turkey croissant.  It was so yummy!  The only real change I made was using pineapple mango jelly.  I also made some homemade mac and cheese from Hominy Grill.  So it was a Charleston celebration all around.

We went to the farmers market and then perused an antique store where I found this baby and wished we had room for it somewhere.

We chuckled when we saw this at the sporting goods store...

Took us right back to 1992 and our first camping trip together.  We bought some of that and I threw a sh*tload of it on the fire because I'm impatient.  Every year, we'd have "butane chicken."  I can only imagine what it did to our insides.

Another thing that made us laugh was this gem from Trader Joe's.

Before we knew it, it was Sunday and once all of the grocery runs were done as well as a little shopping, it was later than I wanted to get started working out.  But we did.  We did ATLETICA by Powerstrike with light weights and as usual, it kicked our butts.

The only way to recover was healthy doses of protein and vitamin A from the grill.

Just like that it was time to plan the meals for the week, get in a little DVR viewing after having finished the Six Feet Under (affiliate link) finale Saturday night.  My eyes weren't quite as bagel-esque as I thought they'd be so that was a plus.

I've got a house to clean and plans to get in order for the week so I suppose I should get to it.  Sigh.

What did you get into this weekend?

  1. Yes, the weekend again went by way too fast. Grocery weekends are the worst for that too because the time we do get has to be spent shopping. But then we do get a lot of great meals out of that stuff so it's all worth it - especially for meals like what you made this weekend. Broke da mouth!

  2. Sounds like a really lovely weekend. Mine was good with a meeting and running a few errands are getting all the laundry done. Way too humid to be outside very much, but it's much better today with a strong breeze, so I'm happier with that. Finished a really good book I'd had sitting around here for a couple of months and just ordered a few more. Busy week this week with different commitments so trying to keep it Zen. =o)
