Why Is It Raining in the House? Weekend Recap
Guten Morgan this fine Monday. I hope your weekend was a bitchin one and you're ready for a short week. (Or maybe you pup owners are breaking out the Thunder shirts in anticipation of the people who are going to be setting off fireworks for the next seven days. I know we always have people setting them off at random usually starting tonight. I do actually miss sparklers from when I was a kid and conducting a symphony to make shapes in the air burned into your vision.) Friday was exhausting y'all. I had to get some worm spray for a looper worm infestation on my brassicas (who the hell am I??) and whilst poking around the nursery with lightning and looming thunder Thursday night, I spotted a flat of begonias marked down to $10. Given my zinnias couldn't stay in the long planters because they need sun, I had to relent and buy the begonias. Anything to block the sea hag from peeking over. So Friday morning I got to work picking of...
I was a little disappointed in The Returned but am willing to give it a chance. It just seems like with such a neat premise for a show, nobody does know how to handle it properly which is odd because I think just about anyone could imagine what it would be like if something like that happened and yet the reactions didn't seem all that natural to me. It's like, "oh you were dead 4 years ago but here you are standing in front of me like nothing happened, let me go get some vodka". Not sure that would be MY reaction to such a thing but then again I don't drink so who knows?
ReplyDeleteYeah everyone acted pretty non-chalant that their loved ones were back from the dead. Very weird stance to take. Hope it improves.
DeleteWe like Scorpion and Better Call Saul.
ReplyDeleteWe liked the few episodes of Scorpion we saw but it was on the same time as Sleepy Hollow and The Voice so it got booted. But with Sleepy's future in question, who knows, we may try to catch up.
DeleteI have amazon prime and binge watched an entire season of Bosch. Actually made everyone else watch it too because I was watching it on the big tv in the living room. But it was a really good show and I can't wait for the next season. I caught the first episode of The Glades and it seems like it may be a good one too. Fast paced cop dramedy, very witty.
ReplyDeleteWe'll have to watch that show on Amazon, I keep seeing ads for it and it could be interesting especially in the prime time "off season."
DeleteMy DVR has been acting a little funny, once it showed that it was recording but then wasn't. I was more than a little upset. There's a new one starting next week, "I Zombie" (I think) and it could be interesting. Other than that one starting and Walking Dead I haven't really been watching much of anything at all lately.
ReplyDeleteOurs does that too sometimes!! I'd love to throw that thing across the room sometimes. 21st century and this is how TV is now. They lied to us back in the day when they talked about how on demand would work.
DeleteNo DVR here but I do have netflix (old school where I get discs in the mail).
ReplyDeleteRight now I'm working through the second season of House of Cards. It's a fun watch but I tend to nod off during it (it gives out a sleepy vibe, I swear) so I do have to re-watch a bit to make sure I didn't miss any little thing.
I also recommend (in no order):
Nurse Jackie
Shameless
Orphan Black
True Detective
Penny Dreadful
American Horror Story (dieing to see FreakShow)
I'll be interested to see what you think of Freakshow. It was the nail in the coffin for us on that show.
DeleteI agree with you on that one. But I will be checking out the new season anyway. Maybe fresh blood will revive it.
DeleteI like all the shows on Wednesday from 7-9pm on ABC. Scorpion is one of my favorite shows because of the unexpected humor in it. I end up cracking up during all the espionage. My mom loves, loves, loves Downton Abbey, but I've never seen it. I don't DVR a lot unless I'm not going to be home to watch something. What I do end up having to delete are the little annoying ads from DISH that they sneak in there!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen Downton Abbey either but the MIL loves it. She goes to parties and stuff for it. Mmm hmm. Dish DVR's ADS!?!?! Not cool!
