Numb thumb and what I'm reading this week

The Mr and I are crippled from last night's new to us yoga session.  It was meant to "stretch our lower backs and open our chests."  The only thing it succeeded in doing is giving me numbness from my elbow to my thumb and making the Mr sore and bunged up.   Three regular and one numb thumbs down on that one.

While I wait for the feeling to return to my digits, how's about you all check out...

Groundbreaking set for Graceland hotel  (Sooooo going when it opens.  Like I need another excuse to go to Memphis)

Tight Hips? Sore Back? 4 Poses to Offer Instant Relief   (I know what I'm doing later)

Cocoa farmers trying chocolate for the first time is a must watch  (Courtesy of the Mr.  Seriously, watch the video)

5 Things The Dying Want Us To Know  (Very interesting and it opened some portal to the dead for me.  I had a shadowy face in my face at 2am after reading it and screamed in my sleep again thereby giving the Mr a heart attack.   Sorry bout that.  Now I KNOW you want to read it!)

17 Hilariously Inappropriate Movie Marquees  (Some funny stuff right there)

By the numbers: The American vacation  (Do you use all of the vacation days you've got coming to you?  We sure as heck do!)

Capture your summer vacation memories  (Some cute ideas for you crafty folk)

5 Bad Weight-Loss Techniques to Avoid   (How I wish my family member read this before going on a 'detox.'  A fool and $60 are soon parted.)

A Baby Photographer Did A Cliché Newborn Photo Shoot Starring A Dog And It’s The Cutest  (Seriously...#2 almost had me pee on the new couch I was laughing so hard.  Time for Poise.)

Drunks on a Plane: The 5 Types of Boozers that are the WORST in the Air  (So obsessed with this flight attendant series!)

10 Ways to Eat Healthier and Not Go Broke   (Save some green to buy more greens)

Jeff Goldblum Attended A Wedding, So Of Course They Took A ‘Jurassic Park’ Photo   (We friggin' LOVE Jeff Goldblum and this is one of many reasons why)

Before and After: One Man's Incredible Journey From 325 Pounds to Serial Marathoner  (For the dudes who say "where are our success stories?")

22 Things Only People Who Hate Noise Will Understand  (This.  Most of this)

Make a New Deal With Yourself  (Love it!)

Lack of vitamin D linked to higher dementia risk  (Already ordered mine since going over my food shows I'm seriously lacking in that department and I use sunscreen like a boss now.)

50 Creative Recipes to Eat More Quinoa  (Keeeeeeeeeeeeen-waaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!)

Is That Normal?! What Your Body Might Be Trying to Tell You  (Don't you wish you could just do a diagnostic then have a print out?  Maybe not, I don't want to know where it would print out from.)

4 Workout Recovery Essentials for a Healthier Body  (Get on it)

25 Rooms Transformed Beyond Belief  (Decorating eye candy)

What Causes Eye Floaters?  (Mine drive me nuts when I notice them!)

17 Things Women Without Children Are Tired Of Hearing  (Word.)

49 Songs You Need In Your Life This Month (Pathetically, this is now how I get new music since Apple stopped doing their music oriented commercials.  The only good thing they've contributed to my life.  Oh and not 49 songs but 3 for me...Move Me- Wet, Fiona Coyne- Saint Pepsi and Right Here- Jess Glynne)

I want to send all of our aloha and kekua to our friends in Hawaii as they weather the storms.  We will be praying for your safety!

No real plans for the weekend.

How about you?

  1. That was the worst yoga ever! Never doing that again! My shoulders were fine prior to that and now they are damaged. No sir, not doing yoga with you! (to the guy from doyogawithme).

    1. OMG, 5 minutes in and severe injury? I just thought I didn't like the position he had us in to "stretch" but it actually felt like inducing tension. So I'm pretty sure I pinched a nerve in my shoulder/upper back. I'm just hoping this gross feeling goes away soon. I like most of his other videos but that is a no go. :-(

  2. Interesting articles as always. I'll be sad when I'm back to work and don't have time to read them every Friday morning.

No real plans this weekend, but I'm hoping something will come up.

    1. Yeah, your summer is coming to an end soon. :-(

Take a peek at some tourism websites for your town and see what's up for the weekend you might not have known about. Or take a little road trip a few towns over!

  3. Read the article on what the dying want us to know. Seems relevant since I'm heading off this weekend to visit a relative that has decided to stop fighting cancer because it has spread too far. About lost it reading the article. Got chills from the first few comments then got mad at the jerks trying to piddle all over the people sharing experiences that have helped them come to peace with losing a loved one. Geez o Pete can't people set aside their agenda for a minute to be respectful of others?

Sorry you had a bad 2 am shadowy face experience. Made me think of a couple weeks ago when I woke up in the middle of the night in a panic, sure someone had hold of my toe. After being paralyzed for what felt like several minutes I finally dragged the toe back under the sheet and managed to go back to sleep. It was a few days later that I remembered that my dad used to grab my toes when he caught me wiggling them, which I do often. I wish I'd remembered that when I woke up to that feeling as I might not have been so scared. He's been on a my mind a lot lately for various reasons.

Sorry to go on so long. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Thanks as always for sharing your finds.

    1. Aww, I'm so sorry. That is such a hard decision when it goes from fighting the disease to accepting things aren't working like you'd hoped. I guess be glad you have the chance to leave nothing unsaid.

I make a point not to read comments on those things. I feel bad for people who haven't experienced those things and are shut off to them. If they only knew. I think between reading that article, putting a pic and our dog's collar in our room and digging out something from my late FIL to put up as new decor might've stirred things a bit! LOL

Sorry you got scared too but the thought of that about your dad, I'm sure that's what it was! There are things that just can't be explained and comfort that comes in ways that only two people share to be dismissed. If it helps us or reminds us our departed loved ones are close, then who does it hurt?

  4. Tonight we are headed to the "Heaven on Earth" tour with The Doobies and Boston at the Park near our house. Hope it doesn't rain! It was interesting reading about how people know when death is near, and their experiences. I am interested in reading articles like this just so I can know what to expect, even though I've got lots of time (LOTS of time) yet with Hubs.
