Did Statins Help?
Pardon if this is riddled with typos but it's 2:30am. I got my lipid blood test results back yesterday. I'm going to assume heading into perimenopause years shot my numbers up because nothing has changed food wise (though stress wise it's been astronomical the past few years which apparently contributes as well). A reminder, I was at 264 at the beginning of December and my shuck and jive speech to get my shit together didn't land well with her. After a talk with my bestie who is on them convinced me (us) with her experience, I relented and agreed to go on them. After almost 4 months on a 10mg dose (the lowest dose available), I'm at 184. So, I guess they work. 😂 I will also say this is with zero dietary changes and a pretty scattered workout schedule the past two months. I hope in time when all of the projects are done and we are finally able to focus on ourselves that I can eventually go off of them with hard work. I'm pleased with...
I wouldn't worry about skipping a week for weighing in. I mean, in a year will you even remember anyways?
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend :)
Fwiw, I don't think skipping the weigh-in is cowardly at all. From the looks of things, it probably falls under the Mental Health Exception Rule and qualifies as an Excused Absence. :)
ReplyDeleteFeel better soon, Anele!
Sorry, I must have shared my cold with you! It does get better, I am just wondering when it goes away. Take care of you and rest, rest, drink, drink, rest, rest...
ReplyDeleteI dont think skipping the weigh in is the end of the world...rest up woman~~

You're definitely entitled to skip today. When I have a cold I always feel like I've got my body weight in snot inside my head. So if that's true (and I think it is) then today's weigh in would be double last week's and therefore totally inaccurate.
ReplyDeleteI really hope your cold lets up soon so you can enjoy at least some of your week. Take care of yourself, drink your liquids (I know that's hard, but do it anyway) and rest up.
I'm with you, mouth breathing and nose trumpeting, puffy faced and bloated. I have a very hard time drinking water when I am sick too! I have to force myself but it's like my throat wants to rebel against me. I've been drinking lots of hot liquids though, and some coke to settle the stomach. I have pots of water boiling on the stove too, one with some eucalyptus oil and occasionally one with cutie peels in it (helps entice me to eat the cute little baby oranges to boil the skins). Every once in a while when I am am fearful my forehead might just explode, I will stand over one of the pots (off the stove) with a towel head cover and just breathe that orange steam. Usually helps and I am sure it helps the house smell better hahaha. I hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteI'll go drink a glass of water right now if you will too when you read this! :)
Neosporin on the nose will help it to heal more quickly. I use a little pot of Blistex overnight lip repair 24/7 when I go through wicked colds. Wish so much I could bring you some homemade chicken soup and hugs!!
ReplyDeleteBecause you have changed your lifestyle over the past years and realize this is forever, I've got no worries that this week is just a blip on the radar, one that 90% of us experienced over Christmas. With all those strikes against you health-wise, just try to heal for now and put the weight loss on hold momentarily. Wishing you good health and a Healing New Year!

I think you made a perfect decision for yourself to postpone the weigh in. You have more than enough going on right now and you didn't need the added pressure of dealing with numbers that you know are only temporary. But when you feel like chit, all it takes is looking at a scale to put you over the edge. So good for you, my friend! You made a healthy choice for yourself today despite all the crap going on. THAT is a victory for today! xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteHugs for you my friend! It's been a long time, and I'm glad to be back. Not so happy to see that you are ill, but hopefully you will heal fast. :)
ReplyDeleteAs for not weighing in, it doesn't matter what others thing. Do what is right for you. :)
Just a thought for the nose - I swear by this stuff called Nose Better. It's mentholated to help you breathe better, and I find it incredibly soothing when my nose is raw. It might be hard to find, but I think it's worth it. I hope you guys are back on your feet (uninjured, too) soon!
ReplyDeleteI think you're entitled to skip weigh in this week. I know you're not supposed to do that, but sometimes you just KNOW anyway and the exact number is kind of irrelevant. Does that make sense? I am doped up on cold meds and exhausted, so I hope that makes sense. This week will be a better one!
