Hump Day Poll: Your Childhood Go To's

Candy Edition! I was thinking about my Mom's 50th birthday party.  It was a wonderful memory because I worked really hard on it and planned it for 9 months to make it great for her.  Because she didn't have a 25th wedding anniversary, I knew I was going to go all out for her 50th.  I had family, friends, people from high school, co-workers (ones I knew she liked! 😁) and I loved seeing her face when she would see people she hadn't seen in a long time.  One of the biggest hits that people talked about for years after were the retro candy baskets on every table.  I bought ones that I knew were her favorites as well as looking at what were popular at the time.   People lost their minds and were squealing like kids when they saw their favorites. I got all of the candy through Candy Favorites website and it's always so fun to look through. I was perusing the site, I was thinking of what stuff I'd want in the baskets on my table for a party like Mom's: Cher...

Festive-ish Weekend Recap

Well, I finally got into the spirit of the season.  (Rather I told the Mr if the living room wasn't cleaned by Saturday I wasn't decorating this year so there was that.)  I don't know that I started out in the spirit so to speak but we got it done.  I'm going to attempt to post a video, won't know until it's posted if it works.

Stand by:

That was really all I had the capacity to do and it was getting later by the time we got to it.

When that was done it was late but since I had the tree set up and what I needed to decorate, I did the one upstairs too.

Sunday should've been full of getting the rest of the house decked but the day seemed to swirl down the toilet after we spent a long deserved lazy Sunday in bed.  He had a migraine then at some point in the day as I began to work on getting more up, I noticed one of the arms on the chandelier was loose.  I had the Mr check it out and let's just say a new one is on the way that costs a lot more than I was hoping to spend but isn't that just how it goes?

We decided to hop over to the park for a walk.  A friend of ours is starting his health journey and asked to be accountable to us.  We sent him a video of us walking and he said it was his off day since he was sore.  Then about 20 minutes later he sent a video that he was walking a lap before the sun went down.  So it was nice to encourage him even though we told him he didn't need to push himself but it made us feel good.  We ended our walk just after sunset and were both walking under the same moon:

We wrapped up the night plugging in the tree and enjoying cocoa and Chateau.

I've got a lot of crap to get done this week.  Beh.

How was your weekend?

  1. It is nice having the tree up even if later than normal for us. It has already done wonders for my mood honestly. I am so glad we got the chance to walk under the moonlight yesterday. That was perfect!

  2. The trees look gorgeous! So glad you got those up and were able to enjoy the lights with some cocoa and Chateau. Sorry about your chandelier though...grrrr....
Weekend was good. I had a super productive day yesterday in the kitchen and got a lot of things done so I felt good about that. Errands today and my annual eye exam smack dab in the middle of the day, so we'll see what I accomplish after that.
