Hobbly Weekend Recap

Hello Monday.  The start of a new week is upon us.   source The Mr's back was not happy and getting worse Friday so he had to break down and go to the chiropractor.  He said it's the ligament that runs over his SI joint and it's inflamed.  He told him to use ice over heat, cold lasered him and yanked his bum leg.  He's been using the shoulder  migraine ice pack I got him for Christmas on his lower back held in place by the back brace belt from the last SI joint flare up.   He couldn't really do a whole lot so we shared a blood supply with the couch most of the day Saturday.  We finally decided to go poke around the garden center just to get out of the house and get some movement.  OMG, the prices!!!  Flats are 12 plants less than they used to be for $3 more or $6 more if you want the old amount.  Plants are $5 a pop for a tomato or basil plant.  I'm REALLY hoping I properly harden off my seedlings because I can't af...

Hump Day Poll: The best everrrr

(I originally had a pic of a dessert then I wanted to lick it and I thought that would be rude to visually tempt people.)

The best dessert you've ever had.  What is it?

I've had so many which is obviously why I'm still trying to lose weight.  The first thing that popped into mind was the Sticky Toffee Pudding at Olde Angel Inn in Niagara on the Lake the first time we had it.  We had it again and it wasn't quite as good but I think we were rushed.  I also really love anything chocolate moussey like the dessert straight up or something like Cheesecake Factory's Chocolate Tower Truffle Cake.  Le drool.

Your turn!  Tell me what I'm missing out on.

  1. Tough choice here but I think I will have to go with the first thing that comes to mind. I won't say where it is because I don't want a bunch of people flocking there but there is this chocolate mousse nutella mousse concoction called a Nebula in a certain part of New England that is so good it truly makes my eyes roll back in my head on the first bite.

  2. We recently had a dessert at an Italian restaurant that was a bread pudding made out of the chocolate Italian Christmas cake - it was really good! A bit like a lava cake. But my fave dessert is probably homemade peach ice cream.

  3. Boy, I'm trying to think of a restaurant that I've had a super dessert at and I'm drawing a blank. The first thing that came to mind for spectacular was my mom's strawberry roll cake that is out of this world! Second to that is an apple cake. I've made homemade eclairs with chou paste which I have to say are pretty fabulous, but I wouldn't say it's top of the tops.

  4. The Gingerbread pudding cake from Bon appetit magazine is one of the only desserts to truly stop me in my tracks. Years ago I tagged along with a friend to her co-worker's "dessert party." Everything served was a dessert and it was NOT a potluck. This woman had made all the desserts herself and there were many of them displayed all around living room, dining room and kitchen of her gorgeously restored Craftsman-style house. I tracked down the recipe online and have made it several times. It's always a hit.
