Hump Day Poll: Your Childhood Go To's
Candy Edition! I was thinking about my Mom's 50th birthday party. It was a wonderful memory because I worked really hard on it and planned it for 9 months to make it great for her. Because she didn't have a 25th wedding anniversary, I knew I was going to go all out for her 50th. I had family, friends, people from high school, co-workers (ones I knew she liked! 😁) and I loved seeing her face when she would see people she hadn't seen in a long time. One of the biggest hits that people talked about for years after were the retro candy baskets on every table. I bought ones that I knew were her favorites as well as looking at what were popular at the time. People lost their minds and were squealing like kids when they saw their favorites. I got all of the candy through Candy Favorites website and it's always so fun to look through. I was perusing the site, I was thinking of what stuff I'd want in the baskets on my table for a party like Mom's: Cher...
I must get pumpkin cookies. The donuts are great but I feel like I haven't had a good pumpkin cookie in a long time. That and seeing the real fall color is just something I want to see yet this year.
ReplyDeleteActually quite a bit -
ReplyDeleteMy decorations went up 10/1
We took puppies to sunflower field at local park to take pictures. They time it to be in bloom for whole month of October which is fun.
Sunday we drove around looking at decorations, starting at sunset.
No pumpkin food hankerings here other than I buy containers of pumpkin baby food to put on the dogs’ lick mats. Half peanut butter, half pumpkin, they go in freezer to set.
No time for a drive lately but there hasn't been any color change to inspire one just yet. I may or may not buy some mums for out front (supposed to hit freezing Thursday night, so I'm debating). The hubs and I will take a drive out to the apple orchard (hey, there's our scenic drive! LOL) on a Thursday in the next couple of weeks to get the best apple cider donuts I've ever had and maybe some blueberry jam. Other than that, nada. I'm ordering some fallish candles so that might bright out a more festive spirit in me. =o)
ReplyDeleteWe went to the pumpkin patch last weekend - got our pumpkins for carving right before Halloween, and also got green chiles. The smell of roasting chiles *is* fall around here. Every weekend has been busy between kid's school activities and my own work commitments so no leaf peeping for us. I'm thinking about making a quick run up to the mountains tomorrow after his play practice, but it might be a little late in the season already.
