What I'm Reading This Week #21

Happy Friday all!  I am beyond thrilled to not having to babysit seedlings indoors anymore.  I know I need to babysit them outside now but I am going to have to do some serious research on how to stop algae and white mold because I feel like I tried all of the tricks and nothing helped.  I can't wait for them to actually bloom.  Well, my cantaloupe have flowers on them.  I guess I'll have to get some knee high panty hose to hang them from on the trellis.  I'll be keeping my eye on those bucket crops because I know it won't be long before critters try to come after them and when they do, I have insect nets waiting for them.  HISS!  So we'll see how phase two goes. Now let's phase into: 5 Best Compound Exercises to Strengthen Your Whole Body   (Get twice as much done in half the time!) 10 Anti-Inflammatory Foods You Should Be Eating, According to Registered Dietitians   (I wish I liked avocados, maybe if I made a sassy guac/salsa combo w...

Hump Day Poll: Done It Yet?

(source)

We're a month into Fall, have you checked anything off of your Fall to-do list yet?

We went to an apple orchard store to get some Fall food items, and other spots to get apple cider or pumpkin donuts since you get a limited amount of time on those.  We're still waiting on leaf change so we can do a nice long drive to enjoy the color, we've been enjoying outdoor walks much more now that we don't have to worry about flop sweat though I wouldn't mind more cloud cover.  Other than that, not much else.  I suppose I should check with the Mr to see if there's anything else he wants to do before we have 3 days of leaves then they blow off.

How about you?

  1. I must get pumpkin cookies. The donuts are great but I feel like I haven't had a good pumpkin cookie in a long time. That and seeing the real fall color is just something I want to see yet this year.

  2. Actually quite a bit -
    My decorations went up 10/1

We took puppies to sunflower field at local park to take pictures. They time it to be in bloom for whole month of October which is fun.

Sunday we drove around looking at decorations, starting at sunset.

No pumpkin food hankerings here other than I buy containers of pumpkin baby food to put on the dogs’ lick mats. Half peanut butter, half pumpkin, they go in freezer to set.

  3. No time for a drive lately but there hasn't been any color change to inspire one just yet. I may or may not buy some mums for out front (supposed to hit freezing Thursday night, so I'm debating). The hubs and I will take a drive out to the apple orchard (hey, there's our scenic drive! LOL) on a Thursday in the next couple of weeks to get the best apple cider donuts I've ever had and maybe some blueberry jam. Other than that, nada. I'm ordering some fallish candles so that might bright out a more festive spirit in me. =o)

  4. We went to the pumpkin patch last weekend - got our pumpkins for carving right before Halloween, and also got green chiles. The smell of roasting chiles *is* fall around here. Every weekend has been busy between kid's school activities and my own work commitments so no leaf peeping for us. I'm thinking about making a quick run up to the mountains tomorrow after his play practice, but it might be a little late in the season already.
