What I'm Reading This Week #14
Annnnd we're revving into Friday. source I must start with a teary goodbye to Val Kilmer. No lie, three days before he passed I got the song " How Silly Can You Get " from the movie Top Secret in my head out of nowhere. I hadn't seen a reference, heard anything about him and definitely hadn't heard that song in 20+ years. I said to the Mr "I wonder how Val is doing?" then I soon got my answer. I remember seeing Top Secret at the drive in with Mom when it came out. When Real Genius came out on HBO, it was one of the few movies my Dad and I bonded over, is in my top five movies of all time and is the Mr and I's love language after I make him king of the winter carnival. source Anyone who followed Val's career and personal life over the decades knows he got a little out of the box and didn't settle for norms which also included his approach to his throat cancer. No guests this year, just me and Mom. I'm making the same as always. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteHad a tooth extraction today so more mashed potatoes and stuffing for me and less turkey but otherwise looking forward to a quieter day and some snuggle time in front of the fireplace. We have a 1-hour family conference call scheduled for early evening to say hi - and that will probably be just enough for me. Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteFor the first time we are ordering to-go Thanksgiving dinners from a local restaurant. I found out last week another local (my favorite place) was also doing them and cooking in the 100 yr old ovens... RATS! Didn't hear about that until we placed this order but that's okay. It's still local and we are grateful to not have to cook during this insane time with our hours. Even better...no dishes. LOL
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Thanksgiving day without any of the family dramas that ensue with humans!
Honestly I am looking forward to this one. I know it is just us but I have had to put up with drama from extended family at Thanksgiving my entire life and this is a break. Now don't get me wrong, I wouldn't wish this on everybody every year - but I am going to enjoy a totally drama free Thanksgiving for once in my life and I am happy about that! Happy Thanksgiving everybody! Let's Eat!
