Today is apparently National Candy Day. You can thank (or curse) France and Britain for bringing it to the US in the 18th century. We've seen a lot of candy come and go in that time which brings us to today's hump day poll.
What discontinued candy do you miss from childhood?
Mine is the Bubble Burger hamburger gum from the 80's

It looks totally gross there but back in the day, each gum piece from the bun to burger to lettuce was separate, I probably chewed it for 10 seconds before it lost flavor and spit it out. Others have tried to replicate something similar, usually in gummi form but it is nowhere near the same.
Your turn...

Hot & Cold Nerds. Nerds in general are still around but I loved the opposing flavours of "Hot" and "Cold". I remember that the hot was kinda like a cinnamon heart, but I can't describe the "Cold" flavour.
ReplyDeleteCandy cigarettes. The mintish flavored ones. I don't think they are truly discontinued. There are some retro candy outlets where they can be ordered online. But since they are banned from candy stores due to the cigarette association so I'm counting it.
ReplyDeleteMost candy you can still get, like Marathon bars are satisfied by Curly Wurly for me. But those gum hamburgers have never made it back and I would love to have one now if only just to prove how good they were and also how quickly the flavor went away.
ReplyDeleteDynamints is the first thing that comes to mind. The BEST cinnamon flavor hands down. Freshen Up Gum, Charms suckers that were flat and wrapped in colored cellophane with polka dots, and the "true" wacky wafers.
