What I'm Reading This Week #36

Well hello you!  So happy you stopped by and hope you're ready for September.  It was a nice birthday week in comparison to last year when we rolled into Kentucky to be greeted with 103 degrees.  So 81?  Yeah, I'll take it!  I saved the gift boxes from my friends to open on my actual birthday including a surprise box I wasn't expecting and it sat in the Amazon pile a little longer than it should have so that was nice.  We got my free bundtlet from Nothing Bundt since I pre-worked it off with 9000 'steps' on the bike for 800 calories.  We both rolled our eyes at the insane amount of visual shrinkage going on there as the cake doesn't even touch the sides of the package anymore like it used to.  If you think we're paying $6 for that crap, you're nuts!  (We don't get them unless there's a bogo going on anyway- way too expensive now compared to the $3.99 they were when they rolled into town 8 years ago.  Anyhoo... It was your typical midweek...

Hump Day Poll: Favorite to Celebrate

What is your favorite flavor of birthday cake?

I am as plain as they come.  I like grocery store vanilla buttercream on white cake.  White on white cake is what the Mr knows to order every year just as I know his favorite combo.  I like all kinds of cake but for me, that is what says birthday cake and it'd better have either a ton of balloons or roses on it to put me in a sugar coma and washed down with a big glass of milk.

How about you?

  1. Last year when you got a marble cake with a combo of white and chocolate icing that was my favorite cake ever. Best of both worlds all in one cake! Perfect for an indecisive guy like me, lol.

  2. I like all kinds of cake, but my two favorites are German Chocolate and Angel Food. So pretty much polar opposites. My kiddo's favorite is marble cake.

  3. Chocolate is my preference but die to a long gone childhood tradition, I have a particular fondness for ice cream cake, especially Baskin Robbins mint chocolate chip with fudge icing.

  4. I have a few that are all at the top of the list: Lemon Cake, White Cake (boxed...love the spongy texture), with whip cream frosting, and my favorite as a kid that still holds true is Confetti Angel Food Cake with no frosting...just straight up fluffy clouds. LOL
