Warm Weather Hygge
By definition, hygge (hooga) according to the Denmark website is about "taking time away from the daily rush to be together with people you care about - or even by yourself - to relax and enjoy life's quieter pleasures." There's a fun little book I read on vacation back in 2018 called The Little Book of Hygge: Danish Secrets to Happy Living and I loved it so much, I bought one as soon as I got back. There was actually nothing more relaxing than reading that little book curled up on the couch in the sunroom with a cup of tea and is one of my favorite memories of that trip. Many tend to associate this practice in the cooler months of Fall and Winter because it tends to focus on the act of being cozy. Snuggling under a blanket, enjoying a warm, healing cup of tea by the fireplace (or fireplace on TV ), lighting a favorite candle while doing a calming hobby like cross stitch or scrapbooking. Being a hyggephant, I can tell you that I never associated warm wea...
Weather and both of our feet/legs permitting it would be nice to paddle this weekend but don't be in a rush if it doesn't feel right. You're right about summer though - it's flying by! Fall is really on the radar now!
ReplyDeleteI like the last of those fancy cabinets - I could really use a drawer for my pans/lids/plastic containers instead of them all being piled together in my "cupboard of doom". Maybe I'll go out today and buy a plastic tote that will fit and see how that works, and if it does I can install a drawer later. Some of those ideas are really great, but I have no room for them.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend! I hope your legs are up to some fun. I'll be finishing up decluttering/deep cleaning my upstairs this weekend and then tackle the basement in small chunks.
I'm all about body language and energy around my pups. They are so in tune to my energy, thus why I cannot cry or yell in front of them if I'm upset. When Elsie got into the skittles I didn't say a word to her; just quietly stood in front of her and had a stare down. She ended up hanging her head and laying at my feet. She KNEW what she did and I didn't have to say a word. I wouldn't engage her the rest of the night and she was not happy about that. A toy got flung on my lap. A head rested on my knee. A lick to my hand. Me? Nada. Would not make eye contact with her. I resumed normal activities the next morning with her and you'd think she just won the dog lottery. LOL Hand signals work best with Finn - must be the border collie in him. =o)
ReplyDeleteGoing out to mom's today to check on the car battery, then will go out there again tomorrow morning and hopefully get that all taken care of. So lots of driving. And I'm excited for the Olympics to start.
Enjoy your weekend and be extra careful with your legs and feet! xoxoxo
