Belated Weekend Recap

Hola peeps and happy Tuesday.  Anyone else get engulfed by the wildfire smoke over the weekend?  Three days straight for us with lots of air quality alerts.  I hope my Canadian friends are doing okay. It was a bit of a lazy weekend to start until it wasn't.  (Thanks to me, I'm sure the Mr is mumbling under his breath.). I have been throwing myself into projects this month to keep myself from spiraling over Mom's birthday this week.  Not to mention constantly fighting every aspect of gardening and I swear I typed that sentence before that last time I tried in 2020.  I have fungus gnats in the elevated planters because of all of the damn rain we've been getting and the soil can't dry out for them to die off.  So I got some mosquito dunks that can be cut into 1/8's and put into a gallon of water overnight and then water the area to kill the larvae then dry the soil to kill the adults.  This is apparently common with organic gardening but frustrating...

What I'm Reading This Week #13

Friday is finally here!  Can I get a woot woot?!  (Cheers to those who actually did it.)  The week felt long to start but then before we knew it...blam!  Friday.  We had the countertop dude out to measure and template Tuesday.  The lady who made the appointment said it would be 2-3 weeks after so I'm hoping for sooner than later so I can FINALLY reveal the bathroom to you guys!  Kind of stinks though because we were told they would take the sink/faucet with them and that was a big fat no.  We were looking forward to getting that big azz box out of the house.  Soon enough I guess.   You may have noticed a little zhuzh to the site (probably more for those on laptops) but I figured it was time and I think they retired my previous theme anyway.  So it's a little minimalistic but there wasn't a ton to choose from on the free side so I took what I could get.  Enjoy. šŸ˜„

I sat down and did a spreadsheet of my seeds, when they were started, harvest dates and when to start new seeds for later season harvests.  Apparently I'm a plant nerd now.  I know me and I'll never remember when I'm supposed to be checking on stuff so I'll send myself emails.  (Because the, no lie, 14 I snooze get per day aren't enough.)

Now let's get to:

The 9 Best Hip Stretches for Women, According to Experts  (I need to do these.  My hips have been tight lately)

11 Spouses on What It’s Like to Live With Someone on Ozempic  (This is a really interesting perspective from all angles.)

Yes, Some Tick Bites Can Cause a Meat Allergy—and a New Study Shows It’s More Common Than We Thought  (We found one of these in the car on vacation a few years ago.  Be VERY aware in your yard or on hikes.  You can also treat your yard and the areas around it.)

8 Low-Maintenance Perennials That’ll Thrive Year After Year  (Word.  Low maintenance is up my alley.)

How to Add Calcium to Soil: 9 Methods  (I've been using the egg shells, washed out then baked at 200 for 30 minutes and crushed into powder)

How to remove Google search results about you  (Don't make it easy for people.)

The Mr informed me that he wants to tackle the garage this weekend.  Not necessarily the cleaning part like I thought but the 'cutting into the top of every stud pocket on the shared wall and dropping the insulation we've had in the basement for four months' part.  It does need done and definitely before the heat of the season sets in.  I guess I just wasn't mentally prepared for that yet but here we go.  We've got plenty of thin set to cover the patches from patches past.  I assume we'll just slather on whatever leftover primer we have on there after we sand and call it a day.   I am REALLY hoping it dampens the sounds of the jagoff next door because he purposely comes out to the garage when he hears us out there just to be annoying, eavesdrop, cough, hock and curse.  (To which I bring out the Bluetooth speaker and blast Maneskin's Italian banger "Zitti I Buoni" and that usually takes care of it.  It would be nice not to hear him word for word as he 'her-dee-ders' on the phone to his fellow nut scratchers.

I šŸ’“ attached living.  šŸ˜–

What's on your plate this weekend?  You getting the itch for any Spring projects yet?

  1. I do hope the insulation makes a difference in there. I would love to be out there and not hear anything from that a hole. Have a great weekend everyone!

  2. Happy Friday! So glad you are on the final lap ! Looking forward to the reveal 🄰.
I've got a wall to prep and prime and paint that has needed it since 22! Then off to declutter the garage and hopefully prep hubby's truck to sell after 14 years!

  3. That's great you'll get the Insulation done this weekend. It'll create a lot of space for you guys. I hope it all goes well!
Very busy week here and I'm pooped. Looking forward to plowing through some stuff I've put off, so I can reward myself tomorrow night with some tv recordings and possibly a late afternoon nap when I'm done working. It's supposed to be nice out so the windows will be open. 😊 Have a great weekend!
