Oh hey, I was just talking about you! How the heck are ya? Me? Well, you know, hangin' in. Let's catch up...grab your favorite beverage. Boy. last week put the screws to our bodies and not a single formal workout in sight! Well, we did walk the cemetery close to where we took my car for it's $400 worth of required maintenance or Hyundai will void your warranty. Don't you love how that crap always hits at the worst time? But other than that, it was all bathroom, garden prep and squirrel cages all the time. It didn't help we had record highs for our area so the garage was moist. My hands have been so torn up for weeks and that coated fencing did it no favors.
Oh and we got sprouts y'all!!
Of course with motivation high to get things done, some mega storm sweeps across the country and we have to have the garage ready before hail pelts the Mr's car. So our time Saturday would potentially be limited. We still had 2 doors to install and 3 latches to get on and it's always the little things that should be easy that give you trouble. I was excited to see it all come together. I ended up recording it as a workout which tells me that the lack of formal workouts was still covered by the activity I did all week. We stopped for a lunch break while the Mr contemplated his life choices and got back to work. We got the 3 boxes to be stacked built and he worked on attaching the legs and casters while I went inside and worked on the dining table aka 2 months of levitating crap where we may or may not get to eat on depending on the night/project. I cleaned up my craft self healing mat since there was everything from paint to Mod Podge to Rub n Buff and the like on it from the past 4 years of shenanigans. I went out to attach the screen to the bottom and while he grabbed dinner, I grabbed the exterior acrylic sealer and sealed the outside of the planter, trim and inside of the bottom, ate dinner then went down and sealed all of the pre-cuts for the smaller planters squirrel cage which was Sunday's project.
You guys wanna see the planters?
Ignore the garage, it's...a garage.

Hopefully we'll be able to give them a few days indoors to dry out (the pickets were SATURATED with snow when we got them so it's insane how heavy one saturated one is compared to a dry one!) FYI- if you're looking for cedar pickets and it says they're on the back wall- they mean in the garden center not where all of the treated fence pickets are. You're welcome.
Because our town has a bubble around it to make every storm break up or dissipate before arrival, we just got some rain and not the big hub bub they were prepping us for for three days. Certainly not what others got from what I hear, so I hope you all made it through okay!
Then onto Sunday after getting one hour of sleep from 6 am to 7 am. 😫
I got a lava hot shower or movement was not going to be in the picture while the Mr grabbed the $1 tomato cages from the store (thank you rewards program!) and did a Depot run for some sealer. I was just short. We had brunch then got to work. We flubbed up stapling the long part of the cage, had to pull it all out and redo it then the sides and top. He worked on the doors then I sealed them. After waiting for them to be dry enough to handle, I stapled on the fencing which killed my hands for the third day in a row. You can bet your sweet azz I added an electric stapler to the wishlist after waking up at 4:15 am to a numb hand that hurts so bad I can't go back to sleep! He worked on assembling the doors where they needed to be and I decided to work on the salad planter. There were some adjustments that needed to be made so I came inside to look up some info while he got things situated and that was at 7pm. The whole friggin' day gone. Today I'll finish up the small planter and we'll need to figure out where the heck these are going to go for a few days because some iffy weather is moving in this week that I'd prefer not to expose it to just yet if I don't have to. We're both freaking about the cost to fill these mofos so I'm looking up a lot about lasagna planting and stuff but not like we have spare leaves laying around. We can pick up sticks at the park for the bottom but it's probably going to be sticks at the bottom, straw on top, cardboard or wait, does the cardboard go at the bottom? My brain is fried. Then compost then potting raised bed potting mix or maybe I'll make my own like I see on these channels to save money so as the year goes, it'll break down to give us better soil. Oh and my baked eggshell powder. Essentially I need 17 cubic feet to fill the two monsters so we need as much filler material as we can get for the bottom 5". I'll have to start seeing who has the best price on what and if there are other rewards programs I can sign up for.
Welp, I'm pooped. He's pooped. We're all pooped.

I haven't been this thoroughly exhausted in a long time. I want to sleep for about 3 days but of course it's a new week. By the way where did half the month go already?
ReplyDeleteI've been asking myself the same question. I swear it was last weekend it was March 1st. 😑
