What I'm Reading This Week #36

Happy Friday you sassy beasts!  I hope your (hopefully) shorter week didn't feel equally as long or longer than most and you're ready for some weekend shenanigans.  The only shenanigans going on around here as of yesterday and today are freaking out because the pictures submitted for Mom's headstone are apparently not high enough quality and now we're friggin' scrambling and I've been having serious anxiety attacks.  The initial proof looked good to me but the attached piece of paper saying 'all of these pictures have issues' (despite one being an ORIGINAL digital) sent me into a nosedive.

Now let's dive into:

You’re Never Too Old to Regain Lost Muscle. And You Can Do It at Home (Good...I don't remember the last time I built muscle anymore)

The 5 Best Tips for Losing Weight in Your 40s. (Welp, in less than a week I'll have one more year for this to apply.  If you told me I'd be this age and still friggin doing this weight struggle BS after the 200 lb drop, I would've called you nuts)

New Research Reveals Why You Shouldn’t Add a Banana to Your Smoothies (Wow, that is weird it has that kind of effect!)

Your Health Checkup: Zapping Your Brain May Improve Memory  (Hmm... I REEALLY want to grab my tens unit and strap it to my head right now!  Post loss brain fog is real and frightening!)

I want to gain muscle and lose belly fat. A dietitian said to eat more food, including carbs  (Good because if you think I'm ever cutting carbs, you're nuts)

Napping Can Be Energizing Unless You’re Making These 9 Mistakes  (Like when you wake up at night and think it's morning and are like "sweet, I have a whole night's sleep ahead of me!")

7 Things to Do if You’re Too Burnt Out to Cook Tonight (This seems to be me most nights and it needs to stop.  Thankfully, the ol' crock pot has gotten more use lately.)

Simple, affordable ways to make your house feel more luxurious  (I have to say, I did #2 (not that one) on both the living room and bedroom ones and the fringe trim did make my curtains look le fancy pants!  I didn't even have to sew it either, I just used fabric fusion because I'm lazy like that.)

Grab a Slice of Cheesecake and Watch These Hilarious ‘Golden Girls’ Bloopers  (No thanks on the cheesecake but I'll watch my Girls anytime)

Well, given no one can do anything about the headstone over the weekend, I think we might head to the Mr's hometown tomorrow.  I have put an asterisk beside that to him depending on how I feel when I wake up.  But he deserves it with all of the crap he's had to put up with over the past weeks so even if I'm not feeling it, we'll likely still go.  It's supposed to be a little less flop sweat hot so that's a plus.

OH! I did want to pass along in case even one person ever bought Beekman 1802's honey over the years and was distraught to see them kick their artisans to the curb... I found the apiary who produced that honey!!  They're called Wild Mountain Apiaries out of upstate New York and they have all of the old favorites!  My personal favorites are their cinnamon honey and their chipotle honey.  Cinnamon honey is perfect for a peanut butter and honey sammie, in your tea, on a scone or toast and the chipotle makes a great glaze over veggies and meats.  Check out their website and consider supporting them.  I can only imagine what it's like to lose a contract that big and try to sustain things.  You'll thank me later as you've heard me rave about that honey for years!

What is on tap for your weekend?

  1. I am glad you found that honey supplier because that stuff is great and I am not usually a honey person otherwise. As for the weekend, it would be good to get out and enjoy some time in the old hometown and maybe find a couple new places to check out while in the area. Have a great weekend everyone!

  2. I hope you enjoy a nice weekend of getting out with a nice drive and doing some mindless, fun stuff take give yourself a mental distraction for a wee bit. I've been wearing a thermal sweatshirt all day and that has felt pretty nice with better temperatures. Still a little too humid for me, but a good 20 degrees cooler, so I'll take it.
