Yesterday felt like a weekend day.
The Mr was teleworking and trying to kick his cold to the curb. A friend of mine is in San Francisco and said she was going to take our suggestion of Brenda's French Soul Food and split the beignet flight and get the pecan sauce French toast. Well, I couldn't sit there all envious so I made us banana maple peanut butter French toast. I know hers didn't clock in at 655 calories like ours did but I'd say we felt a little less jealous.
We've been watching this 90's special on NatGeo the past few nights and we saw Thelma and Louise was going to be covered and I wanted to watch it. I remember seeing it several times with different friends back in the day so I could drool over Brad Pitt. It really is such a good movie. So when that was done, we got in a lunch time workout of Turbo Fire 45 EZ. I burned 835 calories and had the Mr give me a calf massage as my legs have been seriously screwed up since our walk the other night. Oh to have normal leg muscles!
I reminded the Mr it was a movie night, I've been waiting to see Bad Words with Jason Bateman and since yesterday was the last day of the 50% off promotion at the video store so we decided to rent The Expendables. I saw Pierce Brosnan was going to be in the 4th one and we figured we'd better start catching up on them to see if it was worth investing our time in. It was pretty good, so I think we'll see the other two.
For dinner I made mahi fish tacos and corn on the cob with herb butter. Trader Joe's still doesn't have in their chipotle hummus which is sending me into fits. Two months!! But they thankfully got back the roasted garlic hummus so I used a tablespoon of that and added some peppery arugula.
Mmm....herb buttery goodness!
Dinner was lower so we could fit in some movie candy. We split a bag of chewy mini sweet tarts and then I picked 10 green out of his bowl (my favorite) and gave him 10 grape out of my bowl (his favorite) and we were ready to roll for Bad Words.
In case anyone cares (I know you don't) this is the order I eat them in from least favorite building to favorite. Lemon, Grape, Orange, Berry? (Red) and Green Apple. Of course I have to cleanse my palate in between flavors or I'd never be able to taste the difference. I'm a tart-sseur and a weirdo.
We absolutely loved Bad Words . (affiliate link) OMG, SOOOO un-PC, so filthy and yet so refreshing to see a balls out movie. This was Jason Bateman's directorial debut. Wow! I'm not going to recommend it if you have delicate sensibilities but those of you who enjoy some raunch with an adorable kid thrown in for good measure, have at it. The bonus features are worth a peep too.
What's your favorite 90's movie? Do you eat some foods like multi-flavor candy in a certain order?

That breakfast was awesome. Watching that 90's special was eye opening for me. I realize now how most of the bad stuff we have nowadays all pretty much got their start in the 90's. For example: Reality TV; School shooting; Political correctness; Global terrorism; etc...
ReplyDeleteGlad we got those movies. I enjoyed both of them and especially Bad Words as it was refreshing to watch someone without a filter for a change.
It was. I'm wishing I could have it again this morning! :-) Yeah, I cried a LOT during those specials. It's weird how you can white wash memories of a time but these decade oriented shows will show you just how screwed up it all was. Yes, I'm all for filters being toned back. Obviously you wouldn't want to be around a person as rude and snarky as Guy all the time but it was nice to not have that tip-toe mentality and I can't remember when I laughed that much during a movie.
DeleteThanks for sharing this movie! I was looking for something funny to watch, as all I have downloaded right now are Rom-Coms! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's one of those movies you're kind of afraid to admit you liked so much but I'm just up to here with the eggshell mentality of society these days. It was nice to just crack up at someone else's complete ignorance and Jason Bateman was the perfect person to play that role.
DeleteI'll have to look for that movie - sometimes it's nice to watch someone be totally unacceptable. Sometimes they say all the things I wish I could say.
ReplyDeleteI have some favorite 80s movies, but I can't think of one specific 90s movie. I'm sure if I had a list to choose from I'd recognize a bunch that a really liked.
Yes it is! Sometimes it's nice to go filterless.
DeleteIf you're bored, here's a list of 90's movies to peruse. My all time favorite 90's movie is Father of the Bride. http://www.buzzfeed.com/briangalindo/how-many-iconic-90s-films-have-you-seen
Yep - I was right. I can't believe none of these sprang to mind. Fried Green Tomatoes and Shawshank Redemption are two of my favorite movies ever. And how could I forget Forest Gump? So many great movies on that link. It said I'd seen 103 of 210 - then asked if I had a lot of Blockbuster nights. I'm pretty sure I've been insulted.
ReplyDeleteI think I got like 127 and it told me the same thing. Sadly, it was right. When you're young and po', Blockbuster nights are the date nights of married couples! LOL
DeleteI absolutely loved bad words. So wrong but so funny
ReplyDeleteYES!!! Now I don't feel so bad for loving it so much! ;-)
