Non Scale Victories This Week
During last night's LIIFT 4 Shoulders workout, I saw an improvement over last weeks shoulder presses. I was unable to do the 2nd and 3rd sets last week overhead after about 3-4 presses. My left shoulder would literally fall like I'd lost all muscle control with 10 lb weights. Yesterday I used the same 10 lbs and it wasn't until the 7th rep on the second set that I started to feel bad fatigue but pushed through. On the third set my shoulders were shot but I was still able to push overhead even if slower. I pushed to fatigue but didn't have that dangerous muscle drop I had before. The zinnias I grew from seed are mostly in full bloom and I took some pics before cutting some to put in a little vase. I really did like them. They definitely aren't as flavorful as normally seasoned fajitas but I love all the sautéed veggies and the chicken was perfectly cooked. Plus it's just nice to be able to eat one of my favorite types of foods without busting the calorie budget.
ReplyDeleteI was expecting more flavor out of them that at least resembled restaurant fajitas. Hopefully the next batch come out better...for me. LOL
DeleteYou have to remember that your Mr. is not as harsh a critic of you as you are of yourself. You may not have liked the way the dish came out, but that doesn't mean it wasn't still good.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a huge fan of fajitas or beans, but pretty much everything else Mexican I like. I love green chile smothered over everything, homemade tortillas, tostadas, guacamole, enchiladas, chile rellenos... Um, gonna stop now before I drool all over my keyboard.
The Mr will eat anything I put in front of him except krab with a k. Only made that mistake the first year of marriage. ;-) It might've been good in the scheme of things but I could've easily made it taste that way with the spices I had on hand. If I'm going out of my way to buy something, I want it to live up to my expectations, ya know?
DeleteLOL...I know, Mexican food can be so yummy! Fajitas are kind of low on my list but the Mr loves them. I would go for enchiladas or quesadillas first. Mmmmm!
I love fajitas. Chili's Restaurant has really good ones and they are on special on Monday nights. I usually have the chicken ones (they also offer steak fajitas) and eat them without the tortilla and no sour cream. But I LOVE the guacamole! I also love quesadillas, and always eat the delicious grilled/baked/fried tortilla with the quesadilla. I make these myself sometimes (I have both a quesadilla maker, and a panini press--both make great quesadillas), and also get order them at restaurants sometimes. Of course tacos and enchiladas are old favorites. it's really hard to find Mexican food I don't like! Those fajitas you made look great, sorry the seasoning packet wasn't as good as you had hoped. Tonight for dinner, I'm going to try a new Pinterest recipe for enchilada casserole. Du loves Mexican even more than me.
ReplyDeleteI think all of the Chili's are gone around here but if I am ever near one, I'll have to try them! I remember getting the mix of chicken and steak fajitas. Soooo good!! You'll have to let me know how the casserole turns out!
DeleteLOVE fajitas!!! And being in Southern California we have actual authentic Mexican food so there's no shortage of great tasting stuff within moments; alas, though, it is not always very healthy as it is "authentic" and all...LOL
ReplyDeleteYou know, I think Chi Chi's ruined me for "authentic" Mexican food. :-\ Anytime I've gone to the 'real deal', I've thought it was bland and ended up throwing it away. I want to like it but don't. Thank God I remember quite a few Chi Chi's recipes (salsa, chicken el paso, etc) but it looks like I'm going to have to keep on searching for the right fajita mix.
DeleteFajitas are probably my least favorite for Mexican food, although I will say I just tried a recipe last week for "baked fajitas", which turned out pretty good. Basically same concept as cooking on the stove, but just mix the whole batch together and bake it all on a baking sheet with a touch of oil to give it some crunch. My favorite meal I'd say is enchiladas. Beef, chicken, carne asada, pork, cheese--it's all good. See, I'm a sauce girl so anything that has sauce added to it and I tend to like it. That said, one of my favorite sandwiches is a carne asada torta--the bomb diggity! =o)
ReplyDeleteYeah, they aren't high on my list but hopefully with a marinate in the spices and doing them on the grill will kick 'em higher on the list. Enchiladas are awesome. My favorite are cheese and onion with TJ's enchilada sauce on top. YUM!
