If you're a part time people pleaser like myself, you are always putting what you actually need aside to make others lives easier. I'm sharing a little NSV from Monday's vein appointment.
So I guess I have a blood clot. The medicine last week got where it wasn't supposed to so they couldn't do a treatment that day "out of an abundance of caution" and needed to push it to next week. (As I was already freaking about how close we're going to be cutting it already to getting this all in while our deductible has been met. It also cracks me up how she called it the 'blippiest of blips' and then proceeded to tell me to go to the ER if I have shortness of breath, etc. Blippiest of blips eh?)
I'm on big girl aspirin for the next week twice a day and they'll scan again before the treatment next week but then I need a follow up two days later. So the office manager was poking around after scheduling me for Monday and I said I needed Wednesday also for the follow up since I didn't get treatment that day as planned. She's like 'can you do the 30th?' I said the doctor said next Wednesday and no, I really wasn't going to push a follow up which is a quick 5 minute scan I don't even need to see her for if I don't have to, in my sweetest of voices. She asked if I could do noon Wednesday and I cheerily said yes. (So Lizzie is gonna be a heifer for having to push her lunch back 5 minutes that day. Oh well.)
I know I could've technically done the 30th but dammit, it's not a doctor appointment, it's a 5 minute ultrasound so the tech can say yay or nay. Plus the farther out they push it, the longer I have to wait to get permission for the other leg so pffft.
I was kinda proud of myself for sticking to my guns! 😁
What have you stuck to your guns about lately?

ReplyDeleteA cardiovascular surgeon had a blippiest of blips😲?? Glad she wasn't operating on a heart pfft.
I got really good at sticking to my guns when Mama was sick. Nothing recently though. I had some veins removed from my leg 8 years ago then the shot thing about 3 years back. So glad I did it.
Proud of you girl for holding the line with them! You get better at it the more you do it.
So glad you pushed back on that. I'm tired of being dictated to on appointment days too and it's nice when you can force their hands for a change. Good job!
ReplyDeleteI got real good about putting my foot down with all the hubs appts because they got really pushy and didnt take into account the other appts that also had priority. As for recently, I'd say I stuck to it when I really wanted to cancel my upcoming annual appt that I had already pushed out twice bec6of all the oth ed r stuff going on. I really had to battle myself to just keep this appt, and reminded myself then I'll be, gone. done with it and it wont be hanging over me. Doesnt help that my primary left...3 primaries in 4 years, gone. I'll be seeing an NP I've never met, so I just need to get it done.
